'I KNOW YOU have a lot, but this much?' charles says with a small laugh as we finish bringing in boxes of clothes in the spare room he let me take over. it's basically the same size as my old one and it has a balcony too, but i wouldn't be fussy either way.

'i'm just a girl.' i shrug with a small laugh as we leave the boxes on the floor.

'i never said it was a bad thing.' he puts his hands up in defence and i laugh a little.

there's a long pause before i speak again. 'thanks for letting me stay with you.' i say and he shakes his head.

'you can live here, théa.' he says with a shrug as i raise my brows. 'i could do with a housemate.'

'don't count on it. i'll be gone as soon as i can.' i say and he gives me a small smirk.

'are you sure?' he says and i roll my eyes.

'you're too full of yourself, charlie.' i reply and he shrugs.

'do you expect anything less, chérie?' he questions and i fake a laugh. before i can speak, his phone goes off as he receives a call. i see his face twist into one of annoyance as he swipes across his screen. 'alo kiara?' he speaks and i roll my eyes whilst he talks to her. i decide to get up and go into the kitchen, finding something to eat whilst he's on the phone until i see him walk through the connected kitchen and living room. charles opens the front door and i hear voices talk before the door's shut again.

'she's here? why is she here?' i hear an aggravating, grating voice speak as their footsteps come closer whilst i chew on an apple, sitting on the counter and on my phone. 'théadora!' she says with far too much sweetness.

'kiara!' i reply sarcastically as i see charles walk around to where i'm stood.

'why are you sitting on my counter?' he asks, tapping my legs as i shrug.

'why not?' i ask as he gestures to the stools on the kitchen island and i roll my eyes as i jump down, our faces dangerously close to each other as he stands a few inches taller than me. i go around, sitting on the stool.

'are you staying?' charles asks kiara as she nods, her eyes flicking between us.

'well isn't this just great!' i say with fake enthusiasm as charles gives me a look and kiara fakes a laugh. i finish eating my apple, droning out charles and kiara's conversation before i get my own call, arthur's name flashing on my screen. i swipe across, answering it before i bring the phone to my ear. 'hi arthur.' i chirp, charles' eyes immediately flicking up to me.

'théa, are you living with charles?'

'yes, i am. why?'

'you should've told me you were looking for somewhere to stay–'

'arthur, stop it.' i mutter, getting annoyed. i don't get why he always acts up like this whenever something happens between me and charles and it just pisses me off.
