Halle's house was huge. I mean ridiculously huge. So big she had a large fountain sculpted with four miniature horses that spewed water out their mouths. My jaw quite literally hung on the floor as I pulled up to her spacious driveway.
I rang the doorbell to her dark brown double doors. Even her ringtone sounded rich in the way it floated through the air. I shifted the present I'd brought with me in my arms so that it rested on my hips.
"Jade, oh my gosh you made it," Halle beamed. She was covered from head to toe in a sage green and white dress that moved gently in the wind. "Come in," she opened the door wider.
She tried to take the box out of my hands but I shook my head, giving her a disapproving look. "No Halle, you know better. No heavy lifting. Just tell me where I can put this."
Halle pouted but laughed, urging me to follow her deeper into her beautiful home. We traveled down a long hallway until we reached her living room, her kitchen on the other side of the room.
"Woah," I blinked surveying the room. About 50 people were occupying her living room at the moment. Brown and beige decorated the walls, cute teddy bear-themed items and games in every corner. "This is so cute," I gushed. I sat the present down with the rest of the gifts.
"Thank you, I couldn't have done it without my sister Mel. Oh there she is, Mel come over here," she waved to a dirty blonde from across the room. Her hair was claw clipped in the back a similar dress to her sisters on but in a light blue.
"This is my sister, Mel, Mel this is my Co-worker and friend Jade!"
"Nice to meet you!" Mel smiled, she shared the same light Halle had, all sunshine and rainbows. "I hope you have a good time while you're here. Make sure to visit the fruit bar, there's a chocolate fountain," her accent somehow even stronger than Halle's. "I have to go finish setting up the chugging station but I'll see you two later alright!"
We both watched her leave to do whatever the hell she just said. "Chugging station?" I grinned in Halle's direction.
Halle shrugged her shoulder, "my sister does know how to throw a good party," she giggled. The doorbell rang again, "I have to go greet my guest, but make yourself comfortable and have fun." She walked around me and scurried down the hallway.
The room buzzed with laughter and chatter. There was an equal mix of men and women in the room and they all seemed like they were enjoying themselves.
I made my way to the fruit bar, the different fruits freshly prepared looked like candy in my eyes. I picked up a plate and stacked it with strawberries, kiwi, pineapple, grapes, and honeydew. Just like Mel said there was a chocolate fountain waiting to be used. I stuck a skewer in one of my strawberries and dipped it in the warm chocolate.
I let it cool down for a second before sticking the strawberry in my mouth. I closed my eyes and sighed the combination of the chocolate and sweet strawberry like heaven on my tongue.
