The ivy-painted walls that clouded my vision as I walked in transported me back to my teenage days and the childhood years spent in this house. Nothing has changed since I moved out. The same brown furniture occupied the same space and the faint smell of vanilla mixed with ginger wafted through the air.

Reid followed closely behind me, Carrying our luggage in his hands. My mom booked us tickets for a weekend stay. Reid observed the interior of my house in silence. The mirror on the wall beside him barely captured his face as it was adjusted to my mother's height. The house wasn't small it was an average size, but with Reid in it standing at 6'1 he made it seem so.

"Mom!" I called, as Reid shut the door behind him.

I heard the shuffling of feet down the hallway across from the door. I expected to see my mother fussing with her clothes but was mildly surprised to see my Grandma Alice appear in all her glory. Time had aged her slightly but her doe brown eyes were bright as ever. The silver streaks in her hair only added to her beauty.

"I never thought I'd see the day you two would be in the same room together," Grandma said with a knowing smile. She hugged me first, her warm pecan scent entering my nostrils, nostalgia washing over me. She stood before Reid and covered her mouth, looking up at the man. "You've grown," she smiled softly, playfulness twinkling in her eye.

"I have," Reid grinned. He wasn't the college student on summer break who popped in from next door anymore. He stood in a grey Ralph Lauren crewneck sweatshirt and navy blue pants, his wrist adorned with a silver watch. The air around him signifies confidence and control, his features sharp and his gaze strong and paralyzing. Reid Williams was indeed a man.

Grandma pulled him into a hug. She pulled back and grabbed his face between her hands, observing him before giving his cheek a loving pat. Reid took a step back, his arm automatically wrapping around my waist. Her eyes noticed the action, the corner of her lips perking up. "I see you two have caught up with each other. It's about time."

Before I could open my mouth, my name was called cutting me off. "Mom,' I responded as she sauntered into the room. I was wrapped in a hug, my mother's arms squeezing the life out of me.

She planted a kiss on my cheek before pulling back with a charming smile.  "I'm so glad you made it," she said before turning to Reid.

It's not like I had a choice.

"Hello, Mrs. Silvia," Reid took a step forward, a charming smile of his own gracing his features. "It's lovely to see you again," he picked up her hand and kissed the back of it politely.

My mom's brows rose as she rolled her eyes to look up at him. "Still the smooth talker I see. It's nice to see you too. My husband has been eager to see you again. He's waiting for you in the study," She pointed down the hall. "Straight down, the door is open."

I rolled my eyes. Reid cast me a look, raising a brow. I nodded my head in the study's direction, encouraging him to go. He rolled his shoulders and squared them, straightening his posture. "Ladies," Reid excused him, passing through my mom and grandma.
