I've never been bullied,
I wasn't beat on as a kid,
There were no traumatic experiences,
That made me lose my lid.I'm not from a broken home,
My parents aren't separated,
I've got a brother, a mom, and a dad,
To whom I'm blood related.I didn't have trouble in school,
I've never punched anyone,
Let alone have I gotten in any fights,
Or ever pulled out a gun.I hadn't lost a loved one,
Until my grandpa last year,
He wasn't one for sentimental words,
But oh, I held him dear.I wasn't sick or injured,
I've never even broken a bone,
I haven't been abused or attacked,
I've never been truly alone. It doesn't know its victims,
Or how their lives are at home,
It doesn't give a shit if you're perfect,
Or if you can't afford a phone. But yet, in a way,
It's such a beautiful thing,
No bird can fly all by itself,
If it has one broken wing. But illness is unbiased,
Impartial, true, and strong,
It doesn't care if you're black or white,
It sees no right and wrong. That's how disease is different,
From the people it infects,
To it, we are all justifiably equal,
It has the highest respect.
