"So, they're having a boy's day out, huh? I think that's sweet," Liz said before plopping down onto her couch. Taylor was spending the day at Liz's place since Joe came back home today and decided to take Ian out for an outing. It was nice to have some time to herself, even if that time to herself consisted of being with her best friend.
"Yeah, Joe says he misses Ian. They haven't been able to spend time together since Joe's been traveling so much," Taylor told her, crossing her legs and taking a small sip of the win she was drinking. It was only about noon, but a glass of wine wouldn't hurt, right?
"Well, I know you should be happy." Liz winked at her, before taking a sip of her own wine.
"About what?" Taylor asked, a bit confused.
"Joe being home for a while. You've only always complained about him traveling so much," Liz explained her comment, putting emphasis on the word 'always,' and then gave Taylor a look. Liz knew her best friend too well. Now she wasn't happy to have Joe home, when before Travis stepped back into the picture, that was all she wanted.
"Yeah, yeah," Taylor uttered, uncrossing her legs and then folding them underneath her.
"Oh I forgot, there's a certain handsome officer that has stolen your attention..." Liz mentioned, a smile playing on her lips.
"Nooo," Taylor interrupted Liz before she could continue with whatever was budding in her head.
"Yeeeesss," Liz sang with a giggle. "Taylor, I know you better than you like to credit me. I know what Travis does to you." For Travis, before his bout with alcohol, that girl was putty. If he told her to jump, she would reply with 'how high' and do whatever he asked. She moved about the world as if it revolved around Travis. When things were good, they were great. Liz watched her put up with so much when things got bad with Travis, until she cracked. Until she had had enough and left. She watched her fall apart over the man that she loved and did not want to leave, but felt she needed to. No matter how hard she tried to say Joe was her one, everything that she needed, Liz knew better. Liz knew the only one for Taylor was Travis, and she knew that Taylor knew the same.
"Travis, doesn't do anything to me," Taylor argued. Liz scuffed, and rolled her eyes.
"You lie to me and yourself a little too often, Swift." Taylor was fidgeting in her seat. Liz just shook her head and continued her thoughts. "I think you two just need to have sex and maybe that will kill the fire you two still have," Liz suggested, causing Taylor to give her a look. "Maybe that's a bad idea." Liz countered her own argument. "That will only set the fire ablaze." Liz sang the words to the tune of "Set Fire To The Rain" by Adele.
"Set the fire ablaze?" Taylor repeated, trying not to laugh. What was she going to do with Liz? The little brunette that she had been friends with since her senior year of high school always made her laugh, no matter how serious the conversation or situation was.
"Taylor, just admit it to yourself, you want Travis." Taylor couldn't deny Liz's words. It was true she did want Travis.
"I do," Taylor admitted boldly, taking both of them by surprise. "I want Travis, but I am engaged to Joe. Joe has been so good to me, and I love him. I can't...I won't hurt him like that."
"But he doesn't make you happy." Liz argues. Protecting Joe's feelings was something that only Taylor would do. Looking out for others before her own well-being was 100% Taylor.
