(3) An Unexpected Roommate

"Emily!?" Charlie yelled.

"Charlie!" Emily yelled back.

By the time I had time to process her name, Emily had already run up and hugged Charlie. She was still surprised but Charlie hugged back, making a nice moment that I was completely lost on.

Emily didn't look like the demons I had seen when walking back to the hotel with Charlie and Vaggie. Most were weird deranged items/creatures who didn't really look human-like. Emily actually looked a lot more like an Angel...

Oh.

"It's good to see you but, what are you doing down here?" Charlie asked.

Emily released from the hug and a step back, "Well, I have some amazing news for you. Heaven is changing their mind."

"Really!?" Charlie yelled once again, her eyes sparkling in joy.

"Yep! I mean after Sir Pentious was redeemed the council couldn't deny your claims anymore."

"It works?" I asked in disbelief, my eyes felt a little watery.

I was still far enough away that neither of them had heard me. I didn't really catch the rest of their conversation as I was in my own head. The potential for a different eternity than the one I had expected for the cards I had been dealt, clashed with those that told me I deserved to be here. I shook my head, temporarily dismissing the thoughts as Charlie and Emily started walking towards me and Vaggie.

"You've already somewhat met my girlfriend, Vaggie." Charlie said.

"It's nice to properly meet you." Emily said, giving Vaggie a hug.

"Likewise." Vaggie replied.

"And this is Y/N, our newest resident of the hotel."

"Hello, nice to meet you." I said putting my hand out for a handshake.

"It's nice to meet someone trying to better their life." Emily said while giving me a hug.

Usually I don't let people touch me but her hug just felt so warm. I felt like I was melting from the inside as I instinctively reciprocated the hug. I also noticed that she smelled like a forest. We were about the same height so it was impossible not to accidentally smell the hair that filled my face as we hugged. We finally separated and I had to swat some hair that had stuck to my head, causing a slight chuckle from everyone present.

"Alright let's give the news to everyone else." Charlie said.

We walked over to the dinner table where everyone else was sitting and I took my seat again. I started to eat as Charlie introduced Emily.

"Hey everyone, I have an announcement!" She started, "This is Emily, she is a Seraphim from heaven and will be living in the hotel as an ambassador for our redemption program."

"Didn't they basically tell us to go fuck ourselves when you went up there? WHat changed?" Angel asked.

"Well Angel, It seems that when Sir Pentious died he went to heaven."

The silence in the air was palpable. No one had expected this and I didn't either but I just wanted to eat my food. I would think about that stuff later.

I finished my food as everyone talked about the specifics of her stay. While they weren't paying attention I took all the plates on the table as they were all empty and carefully made my way to the kitchen.

Razzle was there finishing up the dishes from the cooking as I walked up from behind.

"Hey Razzle, I can do these." I said.
