"Who is he?"
"Don't know man, looks Eastern"
"Man, don't I hate Easterns?"
"Shh, he is waking up"
Hearing some voices in my room I opened my eyes. Turning towards the direction of the voice I saw two guys staring at me as if I was some kind of an alien.
One looked kind of an athlete with a stocky build, lean arms and a broad chest. He had dark brown hair and brown eyes that seemed to bore down on mine.
The other was tall, lanky and blonde. He had an air of coolness around him.
I sat up blinking at them with wide eyes.
"Uhm..aah....Hi" I stammered and tried to smile.
"Hi! Nice to meet you, you must be the new guy right?" The athlete replied.
I immediately warmed up to him. "Yea that must be me, I guess"
I noticed that the other guy was still eyeing me warily and had not yet spoken.
"My name's uhmm Umar, Umar Bilal . " I replied and offered my hand for handshake.
I immediately noticed that both of them tensed up.
"Umar huh? You're Muslim?" He regarded me warily.
"Yea, I'm from Pakistan" I said.
"Really? How are things back there? Terrorists still blowing up stuff." He chuckled.
"Hahaha no it isn't like the whole country is swarming with terrorists, everything is peaceful" I replied nervously.
"Yeah right." He rolled his eyes , "Well I'm Tatum Cunningham and this here is my friend Luke."
The other guy just nodded and said Hi
"Well it was nice talking to you, We gotta head up for our next class so we'll see you later" Tatum said
"Okay have a nice day, see you guys later" I said
They got up from the bed and headed out, as soon as the door closed I laid back and sighed out loud.
The first day at campus and I was already being treated like shit, I thought.
I sighed again and started unpacking my bags and filling up the cupboards with my stuff.
Five years, I reminded myself. Five years and then I'm outta here.
