The next day, we are waking up at 7:45 am and eating breakfast out on their new, manufactured deck and patio set. Mrs. Lisa had put out a variety of vegetables, a plate of watermelon, blueberries, and strawberries, a breakfast casserole, and cinnamon rolls with orange- flavored icing all on the table in the kitchen. I piled my plate with blueberries, strawberries, and a cinnamonj roll.Outside, Derek, Cody, Spencer, Natalie, and I ate at the umbrella table while Mrs. Lisa and my mom ate under the tent and in the patio set. I sat with my back away from the backyard, facing the house instead and across from Derek. Cody sat between him and Spencer while my sis sat next to me.
"So how about after we eat we play volleyball?" Spencer started.
"Sounds good," I said and then started on eating my cinnamon roll.
After we all slowly finished, we went down the steps to the backyard and started a hitting circle with the volleyball. Cole went inside the house to play on Derek's X-box instead.
After a while, Spencer started spiking the ball at her brother since he was letting his ego get bigger than it already was.
"Dang Spencer you have a killer spike," I said after Derek dodged another one of her killer spikes and started jogging to go fetch it. I took that time to sprint past him to get the ball before him.
"Hey!" He started sprinting after me. I ran out of his path, he just shoved me over and started laughing. The devil horns came out.
"You're such a meanie!" I chucked the ball at the laughing idiot only to miss where he was standing. Ugh!
"Nice throw,"
"Shut up," and I hit his ball he threw at me.
Later it was time to go garage sale hunting. We took Mrs. Lisa's grey Cheverlot Transverse. My mom and her sat up front with Cody and Spencer in the middle and Natalie, Derek, and I squished in the back.
"Derek put your seat belt on," I hiss.
"Okay, okay- wait what happened? I don't think it's suppose to be like this,"
"That's because you didn't hook the smaller belt between us!"
"But that one is hard to unhook,"
"Just do it!"
"Okay okay!" He hooked it and I just smiled.
I've know Derek since we met when we were 2 and 3, but something about his arm and leg touching me sends a sense of protection and warmth through me. So I start teasing him, because what girl doesn't when she has the chance?
I nudge his knee and he nudges back, so I lightly hit his knee and so does he, and we keep hitting each other back harder until we are laughing and smiling at each other.
"Okay, everyone out of the car," Lisa hollers.
Once we come back and pack into the car, we are just sitting in silence. Well that is until Derek turns and pokes me in the forehead and what do I do? I poke him back. So we started get into it more and it ends up with my sister tickling Derek in the knee. Oh my god! I've never seen him jump that high.
"What was that?!" I start laughing.
"I don't know! Hey!" I tickled him in the front of his neck.
"What was that for?"
"I don't know. I'll get back to you on that when I figure it out," I smile at him and he smirks back.
Five garage sales later we have a trunk full of movies, bags full of books, house decorations, a big dog stuffed-animal, and a dress. We headed back to the Correy's ranch for lunch.
