The village was a lively environment, perhaps all of this was new to Sigma; an ordinary teenage boy whose past was unknown; yet he somehow tried to fit in the human life. The lively village was a new home for a boy ever since then when somebody took him in — another teenage boy who was sort of his age, a much more cheerful type in his eyes, letting Sigma live with him in exchange of being his magic assistant.
At first, Sigma felt a little nervous to live with someone. But, Sigma accepted his fate as that. Surely, he thought it wasn't bad when he met him—turns out this guy really pissed him off. He started getting used to his attitude anyway, no choice but to go with the flow of what the guy did.
It's been a week or so since that first encounter, and Sigma was just helping out with his chores (like he was reduced to a housemaid), and with a look of curiosity he listened in a conversation between that boy and two teenage girls. One had black hair with bangs alongside a short ponytail. The other one had a sort of grayish green with short hair and long strands at the front of her face.
"Nikolai, when is your next show?" asked the black haired girl.
The other girl also interrupted her with more questions, "Nikolaiiii!! When are you going to have a magic assistant? I heard you needed one!"
The boy's name was Nikolai Gogol. He remembered... Yes, he did forget his name after a few days because Sigma rarely mentioned his name whenever calling out or talking to him. Or, maybe it was that Sigma wasn't paying attention the first time he met him. But then, at this moment, Sigma was more curious on how he'd react than the answers.
Nikolai answered with a confident grin, trying to keep his top-hat on his head without the strong wind today blowing it in the air: "Well! My new dear assistant that I've been starting to working with is surely excited to perform our next show☆"
His reply was expected as usual with Sigma groaning at the part where Nikolai mentioned "he was that excited." Sigma could tell by how his personality was obvious to read, but also, hard to read because he couldn't tell if this boy really had any other emotions.
The girls then whooped at his response. They started fangirling in front of him, but Sigma couldn't see what his expression was like. Maybe he was proud, neutral, or whatever. That really didn't matter — but Sigma's curiosity for the human world he was in distracted him from living in a different life he wasn't supposed to be in.
Then, Sigma realized he was supposed to be doing the chores Nikolai assigned. He also then realized how Nikolai was supposed to help him out in doing them. Which, Sigma walks up to him in a hurry, only to trip on the small gaps of the stairs as Nikolai catches them in time with his top-hat. This magic trick was performed to save Sigma from getting the clothes dirty by the floor. As Sigma got up quickly, he apologized to the two girls in front. He was trying to process the situation as he looked to the girls first to reassure them the situation was fine and then he gave a long nasty look to Nikolai—basically trying to scold him for not helping him this afternoon—but he calmed down for a few seconds.
The two girls clapped with an excited look painted on their face after Nikolai did the magic trick. Nikolai smirked in success, nodding to them confidently.
"My magic assistant! Ah, right... I was just talking about you!" He pointed to Sigma as he looked at the girls to tell them that was the person who was supposed to help him in his tricks.
"Gogol!" Sigma adjusted his hair a little as he weakly stood up with a serious expression. "...You were supposed to help me as an apology for messing up my room!" He facepalms at Nikolai as the two girls laugh nervously at how Sigma was open with shouting at him in public, their surprised reactions making Sigma soften with him for once.
