Melissa Marie-Reyes was 23 when the world ended. She lived a mediocre life, working a 9-5 to provide for herself and her 6 year old, Coco.
She worked at the local blockbuster store in their hometown of Amesbury, Massachusetts.
They lived in a small, two bedroom bungalow on the outskirts of the city, one bedroom for her and Coco, and the other for her longtime best friend Anna Williams.
When outbreak day hit, Melissa changed. She grew cold, distant. Not the way her family knew her.
20 years later, now a leader of the fireflies in the Boston QZ, Melissa is tasked with taking a girl she knew better than one would think across the country, with a hard-headed woman and an insufferable old man as her companions.
When she took the job, she truly was unaware of the relationships that would blossom and the memories this mission would bring to the surface.
