MELISSA'S EYES FLUTTERED open slowly, the sound of hushed giggling interrupting her sleep. Her brows furrowed, and she glanced around sleepily, trying to figure out where the noise was coming from.

Her eyes landed on the curtains on her window,
smiling fondly at the sight of two pairs of socked feet peeking out from under the long drabs of fabric.

" Oh, I wonder what that noise was!" Mel exclaimed rather loudly, revelling in the sound of her daughter giggling, and Anna trying to calm her giggles.

Mel stood quietly, ignoring the fact that her hair looked like a birds nest and her pyjama pants had ridden half way up her leg, and approached the pair slowly.

Coco was still doing her cute little giggle.

In a flash, Mel swung the curtains open, revealing Coco dressed in her Tinkerbell pyjamas and Anna, clad in her usual Savage Starlight t-shirt and bed shorts.

Coco screeched, attempting to run away before she was caught in her mother's arms. She play-tackled her to the floor and began to tickle her stomach as she writhed.

When Anna slowly crawled towards them, Mel pretended to cock a gun, as the woman raised her hands in surrender.

She pretended to shoot, and Coco's cackling only got louder, before she stopped to breathe.

"I surrender!" She exclaims, still giggling. Mel shrugs, standing and pulling her pant legs down to their original length.

She swings open the other curtain as Coco and Anna exit the bedroom, her friend presumably taking her basically-niece to get dressed.

She had recently started 1st grade two weeks before, and Mel couldn't be more proud of her girl.

She sat down on her bed with a yawn, mentally preparing herself for another day of boring coworkers, kids trying to buy R rated videos, and standing. All. Day.

With a huff, she reached into the closet she shared with Coco and pulling out her work polo.
It was a dark navy colour, with bright yellow lining the collar and short sleeves, with the 'blockbuster' logo on the right side of the buttons, and her name-tag on the left.

She also pulled out her tan coloured trousers, before quickly changing.

Just as she was tucking her shirt into her pants, Coco came running back into the room, now decked out in a purple skater dress and white knee high socks, her little slide on purple sneakers on his feet.

"Ready for school?" She asked, grabbing her hairbrush. She nodded eagerly, beginning to excitedly ramble about the plans she had for the day.
