"Scooch."
Lucas was towering over me with his shirt off. I was too amazed to move, so he just went in the empty space behind me. Then he put his arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him. Susan, Rose's girlfriend, jaw was basically on the floor. (Mine was too if we're being honest.) "Why do you look so shocked? "You and Rose do it all the time," he said as he made me lay flat on my back. Lucas then nonchalantly laid on my chest. "Yeah, Rose and I are together," she continued, "So if I need to go tell your girlfriend that yall breaking up, just tell me."
"PLEASE DO!" You could hear Rose all throughout the house saying that. She doesn't like Lucas' girlfriend, Precious, because she's a gold digger. It may also have something to do with the fact that she's been trying to get us together since 3rd grade. I could hear Lucas laughing below me. "I don't know, you just might have to." No one was shocked by this comment, he was always flirting with me, it was cute. "Don't make promises you can't keep Luke." He cringed at hearing me call him this, but just chuckled.
"Yeah, Luke, you better keep your word," Susan said through laughs. Lucas and I looked up with utter disgust. Rose grabbed Susan and apologized to us. "Listen, I know that you're just trying to be friendly, but that's THEIR thing."
Yep. Our thing. There's no real reason, it's something we started the first year we met. Anyone else tries it, it just makes us uncomfortable. I don't know why I started calling him that, but he loves it (and hates it,) so we've been doing it for the last 11 years.
"It's fine, just don't do it again," I said threateningly. Or at least, I was trying to, but I ended up laughing because Lucas was tickling me. "No need to be so upset over something so little." My face dropped on
hearing that. Little? He's one of the closest, no he IS the closest friend I have. This isn't something that I consider little. He must've noticed that I was kind of upset by this and said, "You know I wasn't being serious, right? I just don't like seeing you be so cruel."
Then, his voice became quite flirty. "My love, I would never hurt you," he said dramatically. Knowing this, I played along, "My dear Luke, you have hurt my feelings. I will never speak to you again," I teased. We both just laughed it off. I wouldn't mind if he actually asked me out, but hey, if he's happy then I'm happy. Plus, my grandma just said that the food was ready, and why would I waste my time on boys when I could be eating spaghetti and corn bread?
Once we were done eating, I was about to go to bed when all of a sudden, there was a knock at the door. I decided I was going to get it, and you can only imagine my shock when I see Sarah outside.
"What are you doing here," I asked stepping outside. "Listen, I would be lying if I said I regret it but come back home. I miss you," she whined. I was about to say something, but I know that there is no cussing on this property, so I had to calm down. "I'm not sleeping in the same house as you, you might stab me in the back again," I said with no emotion. "But I must wonder, how long have you two been sleeping with each other?" She got quiet. "2 years."
2 years!? Peter and I were only together for 3! "So, what you're saying is that from the moment you got here, you were sleeping with my boyfriend," I asked, "Sorry, EX-boyfriend."
She burst into tears talking bout she didn't know how it happened and how it was an accident. I was trying so hard not to laugh. She was so fake; I don't how I didn't realize earlier. "Goodnight, Sarah."
"You guys will never guess who was at the door," I exclaimed when I walked in.
"Who was it," Rose asked.
"Sarah." Everyone got quiet at her name. "What did she want," my dad asked. "For me to move back in with her and stuff, I'm not falling for it."
We were almost through dinner when the doorbell rang, "I'll go get it this time," Lucas said getting up from the table. I didn't think much of it until I heard yelling.
"Why do you always come to my house why you're drunk!?"
"Because my boyfriend doesn't like it when I come to his house like this, duh."
"I'M YOUR BOYFRIEND!"
"Don't tell me you thought you were the only one. I mean, you're the richest, but not the only."
"Don't call me, text me, or ask me for money. We're through."
"Fine, whatever. You'll call me in the morning."
The door slammed.
"Was that...?"
Lucas just should his head. "Let's just finish dinner." He didn't say anything else while we were at the table. When it was time to go, I walked my parents down the driveway since they still had to make a long drive back home. Lucas was at the door looking extremely sad. When I walked back up, he said two words.
"Friend time."
