"Calm down."
I looked behind me and saw Lucas standing there with a slight smile. I was teary-eyed as I was crouched over and clinging onto myself. He grabbed my hand and wrapped them around him. "I promise," he started, "as long as I'm here, I'm not going to stop trying to protect you, and I'm sorry that I wasn't able to protect you before, I was supposed to be your best friend and I wasn't there when you needed me." His voice cracked as he spoke and when I looked up, he was crying. I wiped his face and we just hugged for a good 5 minutes. It was all so sentimental until he put his hand on my stomach. "You're hot by the way," he said through a smile. I popped him in the head and we both got into bed and went to sleep.
I woke up before Lucas, (Per usual,) and went downstairs. Mrs. Rogers saw that I had come from Lucas' room and asked what I was doing in there. Rose was drinking her juice and when she heard that she almost choked. "Nothing Mrs. Rogers. We were simply watching Tik Tok and making out." Her eyebrow went up. "I hop that was all yall were doing in that room." I just giggled and sat down by Rose since Susan still hadn't come down yet. "Why would you lie to my mom like that," she whispered. "I didn't lie," I continued, "when you walked in... Lucas and I were making out." She looked at me. I put my hand over my heart. "Okay, but, why were you shirtless then," she said trying to seem intimidating. "Just we were making out doesn't mean that it didn't get heated. Plus, you should know from yesterday that he has seen me without a shirt on. I didn't give myself those hickeys," I said matter-of-factly.
Her eyes got wide with realization. "HE DID THAT!?!?" Mrs. Rogers heard the commotion and asked, "Who did what?" I hit Rose in the arm and said "Nothing~. She's just being dramatic." Ms. Rogers went back into the kitchen and I grabbed Rose's arm. "Are you stupid," I whispered. "Listen, I forgot that you guys were dating, alright," she said in her defense. "And we both agreed not to do that until I'm 18," I said like it was obvious.
"hey, Nattie," Mr. Rogers said walking in. "Yes, Mr. Rogers," I said curiously. "I haven't seen you do any college work recently. You're still in school, correct?" I nodded and said, "That's what I do when I go to Rose's school. I'm all caught up for the next two weeks, so you don't have to worry," I said as I smiled. He kissed me on the forehead and went into the kitchen.
After we were done with breakfast, I went into Rose's room and chose my outfit for my date. I wore a white crop top with cherry blossoms on them, some fishnets, and some short jean shorts.
"Juliet," Rose called up the stairs, "your Romeo awaits you!" When I came down, Lucas' eyes widened, but he didn't say anything. I decided not to think anything of it.
"Okay, I'm ready, let's go."
