Zaara's POV

"I witnessed something worse, and what's worse than that is I should see the person who asserted that he would never love me again and again." I said this to Minta on call.

"I think he is mad. Who else will call a girl to a coffee shop just to tell her that he is not going to love her?" She said.

He will.

"You didn't propose to him. All you wanted to do was hand him his file. He strongly believed that every girl in this world was ready to propose to him. Narcissist!" She roared.

I hummed as a response and added, "That's not the worst part. He rejected me even before the proposal, just to make me available to his friend. But all his friend did was kiss his crush on his back."

"You should never have gone to his home," Minta said.

Yes.

But I wanted to see Rohan's reaction when he was cheated by his bestie. He rejected me for him. But he didn't deserve that.

"Hey! I am late for work. I will call you at lunch." I said that and disconnected the call.

I hope he resigns. I can't face him anymore.

I entered the school hoping that he might have diminished in thin air. But he didn't.

"Sorry!" Someone said it from the back.

I turned to witness the man who pre-rejected me.

"Why sorry?" I asked to hide my embarrassment.

"I talked rudely to you that day. And also, I should not have forced you to talk to Christo."

"You didn't force me. I agreed to give him a chance, and that led to a call, and that led to you finding out.." I said that and paused for a moment before continuing to talk. "He didn't deserve a second chance."

"Hmmmm." He didn't exactly give a positive or negative answer. He didn't want to label his friend as wrong, even though he was wrong.

He kissed your crush while claiming me as his crush.

If I had never agreed to talk to him that day, we might not have known about his betrayal.

As he didn't give anything as a reply, I slowly started walking away from him to bring the conversation to an end.

"Zaara!"

Shi! Though he rejected me, it still sounds sweet.

I tilted my head to look into his eyes. "Let's be friends. I know I don't deserve it either. But..." I chopped his words and said, "Okay!"

Before walking, I added, "Just remember what I said that day. I never loved you. I never will."

I lied.
