The flames licked hungrily at the crumbling walls of a house, painting the night sky with an orange light. Inside, amidst the chaos, Adriana fought desperately for her life.
Smoke filled the air, stinging her eyes and choking her lungs as she stumbled through the burning wreckage.
The crackling of flames drowned out her screams as she searched frantically for an escape route, but the fire raged on, devouring everything in its path.
With each passing moment, Adriana's hope dwindled, her strength dissapearing as the flames closed in around her.
Tears streamed down her face as she thought of all she had lost – her dreams, her hopes, her loved ones – all consumed by the merciless fire.
And then, in a blinding flash of light, everything went dark.
Adriana felt as if she was falling. Farther and farther, her back and torso beginning to burn as if melted steel was being poured on her. Finally, she made contact... but instead of the ground, it was a person, who stumbled under her weight.
"What the- watch where you're going!" said a four-armed demon angrily. "Oh-" he looked at her and smiled.
"H-hello..." Adriana said, "I'm sorry for falling on you..."
"No, it's nothin'" she demon said, standing up and looking at Adriana. He was dressed in very revealing clothing and was covered in white fur, "The name's Angel Dust," he said, stretching out a hand.
Adriana stretched her right arm forward to shake the demon's hand, only to realise that she'd stretched out two hands. Looking down, she realised that she had two pairs of arms, just like the demon in front of her.
She screamed, backing away.
"Wait, sugar, calm down," said Angel, putting a hand on her shoulder.
"Everything's okay. It takes a while to get used to it, but you'll manage," he smiled. "What's your name?" he asked.
"A-Adriana," she said, her voice shaky, still shocked, "or Dria for short."
"Cute name," he said. He had a nice smile, and talked in a Brooklyn accent.
"Uhm... this might be a dumb question, but where are we?" Adriana locked around. They were on a regular street. It was pretty dirty, but it resembled the streets where Adriana had lived.
"Sugar, we're in Hell!" said Angel. "Look up,"
She did, only to see that the sky was red, with a giant glowing pentagram hanging over the city.
"You must be really confused. I was, too, when I fell, don't worry. Come with me," Angel said, gesturing for Adriana to follow him.
The two of them walked to a big building, with "HAZBIN HOTEL" written on it with neon lights.
"Hey, Charlie," Angel said as they came in, "I have a new resident for you!"
A blonde girl with an overly wide smile came running up to them.
"Oh. My. God! I can't believe it! Hi, I'm Charlie!" she said, hugging Adriana.
"Uh... nice to meet you!" Adriana said, overwhelmed by the pure positivity emanating from the girl.
"I'm the owner of this hotel, let me show you to your room."
But before they could move, a tall demon dressed all in red teleported to Adriana's side.
"Salutations! I'm Alastor, host of this hotel. Pleasure to be meeting you, darling, quite a pleasure."
"Hello, Alastor, I'm Adriana" she said. Alastor's voice sounded like it was coming through an old radio. And his presence somehow unsettled her.
"Hey, tall and creepy, I'm pretty sure Dria's pretty overwhelmed, she only fell a few minutes ago. Just give her her room key,"
...
As Charlie showed her to her room, Adriana jumped when she saw herself in the mirror.
She was slimmer that she'd been in her life, and slightly taller. She had butterfly wings and four arms, resembling an insect.
"I like the wings," said Charlie, smiling.
"Thanks..." Adriana said, still looking at her reflection.
She wore her work clothes, which were very revealing. That explained Angel's strange reaction to seeing her for the first time.
She had high cheekbones and black glowing eyes.
After a while, she realised that she still had all of her piercings - multiple in her ears, one in her left eyebrow and one in her nose.
It was unsettling. To look back at her reflection and not be sure that she was the one staring back.
But she understood pretty quickly why she had four arms, considering what her job had been...
"I'll just leave you to settle in. Call me if you need anything" Charlie said, opening the door, about to leave.
"Oh, and Angel and Alastor are your neighbours. So if you ever need them, go to rooms 203 and 204.
