A MOMENT LATER, grover had caught up. matilda had turned her bow back into a pin as they walked.
once they entered, the first thing matilda noticed was the table full of food. the second thing she noticed was how her stomach was growling.
she had dropped her bag on the bus when she hit her head, so they didn't even get the snacks they bought.
"you must be hungry!" medusa said. matilda looked around but didn't see her, only hearing her voice. "i left snacks on the table while i get something proper done." silence came from the three that had entered the house for a moment as they stared at the table.
"you think its safe to eat?" percy asked lowly. "percy i'm not gonna lie to you, i'm really hungry and im ready to take that chance." grover responded. matilda chuckled slightly. "im going with grover on this one." she said, leaning forward and picking up a cookie.
the bell of the front door rang, and in came annabeth. "there she is." matilda said. annabeth gave her friend a blank stare. "this isnt the same for me as it is for you." percy looked perplexed. "why?"
"you're concerned i would hold a grudge against you simply because you are a daughter of athena?" medusa asked, walking into the room as the four kids turned their head away. "you shouldn't be. we're not our parents after all. and you and i might have more in common than you think."
