CHAPTER 10

Aimee did tell Hanna and I that Christmas vacation always came late in Roslow High. I honestly did not expect “late” to mean four days before Christmas. Yes, our last day before Christmas break is December 21st. But at least it finally came, though. Our last day was half day so our mum told Caleb and I to go home right away, since we were driving to Cheshire that afternoon to spend Christmas at my nana’s place. It was tradition until our family moved away the other year, and since we’re back they thought to spend Christmas that way again.

“Bye Caleb, Merry Christmas.” Ashley said, flirtatiously winking at my older brother in that sickly sweet voice. I should probably tell you a little bit about Caleb first. Caleb, as I mentioned, is my older 20 year old brother. His college is just right across Roslow High so whenever I don’t walk with Hanna or Aimee home, I walk home with him. Oh about Ashley, yeah. You see girls in my school are weird and compare my older brother to Gregg Sulkin. They say my brother looks like him, which just makes me gag. That would be an insult to Gregg. I’m kidding! I love my brother, but you know, we’re siblings, we insult each other.

So yeah Caleb gets a lot of girls’ attention (not to mention High School girls), he’s cool with it, actually, he loves it, but at least it doesn’t get to his head. I mean at least his head isn’t getting big. Although I like the fact that he has a particular dislike towards Ashley…

“Merry Christmas.” My brother said in an awkward voice with an even more awkward smile which just made me laugh silently to myself. Ashley being thick didn’t really pick up on the awkwardness and looked as happy as a kid on Christmas day.

“I’ll never understand that girl.” Caleb said, chuckling and shaking his head as we made our way home.

“I don’t think even she understands herself.” I said. What? It’s true!

When we got home our mum ushered us into our rooms to make sure we’ve packed everything and in 30 minutes she was behind the wheel and I was stuck in the back with Mike since Caleb called shotgun. (My dad got to Cheshire earlier because her mum este our nana wanted him there sooner.) Mike fell asleep ten minutes into the carried though, and I managed to join him later on. I wasn’t really in the mood for a road trip from Watford to Cheshire, I’m sorry. My mum just woke us both up I think about an hour and a half later when we finally reached our nana’s place.

It looked just like how I remembered it. Same peach colored painted walls and black roofing, the huge garden with a little pond in the front yard behind the black gate, little stone steps that lead up to the patio to the entrance of the house. And even from here I could already smell her homemade cookies, mmm… The lights on the second floor were turned off, but you could clearly see people in the first floor.

“Jacky!” Our nana, Nana Beth exclaimed as she hugged our mum. “It’s been so long dear! It’s good to see you.”

“It’s good to see you too, Beth.” My mum smiled at her mother in law.

“Katherine!” of course, the grandchildren can’t go ignored. Our nana’s probably the only person who calls me by my first name. Yes, my name’s Katherine Rebecca, don’t judge me. I said don’t judge me!! “wow sweetie you’re so big now!” Nana said as she enveloped me in a hug. Of course this is obligatory in family reunions even though everyone’s just stating the obvious. It’s not like they expect us to shrink or something. But anyway.

“I missed you nana.” I smiled at her.

“Oh I missed you too, dear! You look different.” She said as she studied me.

“She just dyed her hair, nana.” Caleb spoke for me.

“Caleb dear! Wow you’re a grown man!” Nana exclaimed as she finally noticed Caleb. Oh and yes, I dyed my hair. My hair’s naturally dirty blonde like Mike’s, but when we got back here I just decided I wanted a fresh start, that’s all…

The day went by with our mum introducing Mike to nana, since Mike was never really around in our previous reunions. (He’s 4, we moved away when I was 12, and I’m 17 now. Do the math, loves.)

The next couple of days were devoted to me catching up with my cousins who were also staying at nana’s for Christmas. I particularly got along well with Aria considering we’re of the same age and we practically hate and love the same things. Aria’s just a bit shorter than me with natural jet black hair that just reached up to her shoulders and stormy blue eyes. She’s gorgeous, really, especially her cheekbones… damn I want well defined cheekbones.

“Becca dear, would you be so kind to go to the store down the street and buy some blueberries? We seem to have run out.” My mum called from the kitchen. It was the afternoon of December 24th and all the adults were busy preparing food. I was in the living room with Aria watching Love Actually.

“Sure mum,” I said standing up.

“I’ll go with.” Aria said as she joined me by the front door. We both put on our coats and boots, and luckily it wasn’t snowing that hard outside anymore.

We got to the store, bought a lot of blueberries (I love blueberries, not my fault if the cheesecake is going to be swimming in them.) and some candy because I’ve been craving for candy canes since we’ve got here.

“Legolas is so hotter than Aragorn!” I argued with Aria, yes we are Lord of the Rings fans.

“FINE! But Aragorn is still more badass.”

“No he is no—ow!” someone bumped into me quite hard and I managed to land on my bum on the cold hard ground.

“I’m sorry.” A deep husky voice said as he helped me up. “Are you alright?” I looked up at him and immediately looked down. The guy was wearing a coat as well, and he had his hood up but you can’t mistake those curls, you just can’t. He was with someone, I think a girl.

“It’s fine.” I said quickly to the ground. “Come on Aria.” I said quickly walking away, not even waiting for Aria to respond.

“What’s the rush?” Aria said raising her eyebrows.

“nothing.”

Did I really bump into him? I mean, I know he’s from Cheshire, but doesn’t he have a tour? Right, it’s Christmas Eve Becca don’t be stupid. After getting back to my nana’s I gave my mum the blueberries and excused myself to take a shower. I was in the room I was sharing with Aria, staring at my laptop.

Becca @BeccaMurray31

Well that was awkward…

I got replies from some of my followers asking what’s awkward, some wishing me a Merry Christmas. I ignored those asking me what was awkward and wished some people a Merry Christmas as well.

I couldn’t get my mind off of it, I need closure (ok I sound a bit overly dramatic but if you were me you’d be feeling this way, too.) So for the heck of it I search his twitter, and lo and behold…

Harry Styles Harry_Styles

Sorry, I didn’t mean to! You probably won’t see this anyway… xx

Yup, confirmed.

I bumped into Harry Styles. What does he mean though by “you probably won’t see this”? Won’t he think he bumped into some crazed fangirl who would check his twitter? On the other hand what kind of crazed fangirl would just walk away from Harry Styles like I did…

So what do you think? :) I wonder why Becca acted that way? hmm. I mean even if I weren't a fan of 1D (hypothetically of course) I would still have stopped at least to ask for a picture.

is there something our main character isn't telling us?

(by the way I'm sorry this chapter doesn't have Harry's POV. I was gonna add that, but then I don't really enjoy long chapters and this chapter I think is already long as is, and if I added Harry's POV in the same chapter... yeah.)

stay tuned though ;)
