– ♥ ANGEL DUST'S POINT OF VIEW ♥ –

I was starving. I don't normally get very hungry, but I hadn't eaten for almost three days now. And besides, I was also really bored. I had been up for hours now because of Niffty. Her snoring was so loud you wondered how someone so small could make a sound like that, and whenever I would get comfortable, she would toss her body around the bed and throw her arms around me and in my face. I slowly stepped out from the bed, careful not to wake up Niffty. I didn't want to wake her because, one, I would just feel bad about disrupting her, and, two, I was scared she would bite me. Silently, I walked out of the door, and to the snack bar downstairs.

I just grabbed a few things—a small bag of soft pretzels, a slice of pizza, and some fresh fruits—and I decided to just stay there for the rest of the night. It'd be easier to fall asleep here than in my own room. I lay my head on the bar table, snacking occasionally. I felt my phone—which I had brought with me—buzz in my hand. I didn't bother to check it. I didn't care what he had to say. He wouldn't make me go back. Ever.

I heard yelling come from around the corner. My head jerked up immediately, looking for the source of the sound. I stood, leaving my food at the bar and turning around towards the corner. I didn't find much—a janitor's closet, a men's, women's, and gender-neutral restroom, and an office at the end of the hallway. The sound was coming from the office. I stepped towards the room, listening to the conversation going on between Husk and an unknown voice.

Husk sighed, interrupting the other voice. "Listen, you smiley perra, I don't have time for your bullshit. I've got things to do. I—..." He groaned. "Ay, Dios mío—Just... Goddammit... I've been busy, okay?"

I heard a bit of static, which almost sounded like laughter. "With what, my dear friend?"

"Oh, like you don't know, motherfucker!" Husk yelled back. "I'm trying to fix the shit that you have caused! You promised you would help me with this casino, and you've done anythin' but that! You got that little princess wrapped around your fuckin' finger, and now—" Husk sighed, stopping himself. "We'll talk later. Goodbye, boss."

More static. The other voice went away, and left me in confusion. Who was his boss? What had they done? What princess was Husk talking about? What in the actual fuck was going on? I shook my head. I wanted to find out more.

I heard Husk groan inside his office, slamming something onto some surface, making static sound. He kept muttering to himself in Spanish. "Ay, Dios mío... ¡Lo odio, lo odio, lo odio! ¡Ese estúpido demonio sonriente! Dio..." He sighed, and I heard a thud. Husk groaned and threw something, causing more static-like laughter, but this sounded more aggressive. Husk growled. "Vete a la mierda." The laughter died with a small spark.

Husk gasped and I heard more static, with a faint voice now. I couldn't make out what it was saying, but Husk whispered back, "Yes, boss..." He sounded terrified. I heard him whimper and then I heard faint footsteps. A radio broadcast played, discussing news from decades ago about a drowned victim in a nearby river. Husk sighed deeply, and the broadcast stopped. "Don't, Al." More static.

I stood outside the door, thinking about what I had heard. Who was Al? Why was he Husk's boss? Why was he so scared of him? What was important enough about that broadcast for him to play? I had too many questions, none of which were likely to be answered. But I wanted to find out...

I heard footsteps and I panicked. I didn't know what to do, so I froze. Luckily, the footsteps weren't coming towards me. I heard Husk groan, and after that, no more noise came from the room. Just the slight sound of static every few minutes. Maybe I should investigate? Find the answers to my questions?

I know, it might seem weird to creep around in your boss's office, but... Yeah, there were no "but"s. It was weird. But who gives a shit? I was bored!

When I opened the door, the first thing I saw was a smashed radio on the wooden floor, with springs surrounding it, which confused me. That radio broadcast had played just a moment ago. How would it have been smashed? As I entered, more static sounded from the broken radio. The room itself was decent. It had wooden floors, and a carpet similar to the one in me and Niffty's room under the black canopy bed. A dresser sat next to the bed, with clothes hanging out of the opened drawers. There was an open window To the left of the bed, which was surrounded by a nightstand on each side, both with a lamp and one with an alarm clock, just like mine. To my left, against the wall in front of the bed, there was a desk with a bulletin board above it. It had pictures all over it, most of Husk in front or inside his casino. But some were with other demons. But one caught my eye...

Its was an old photo of Husk in front of his then newly opened casino, but he was standing with someone. But he wasn't really... there? He had the outline of a skinny demon, but his form was almost glitching. I could still tell what he looked like, though.

He had beige skin, and he had a creepy grin full of sharp yellow teeth on his face. His head was tilted to the side almost unnaturally. He had a pinkish-red angled bob cut with black tips at the ends. On top of his head, there were two large black-tipped ears that resembled the ears of a deer. He had an undercut, and two antlers sprouting from the crown. His eyes we're what disturbed me... They were pure glowing red. I don't know why they scared me, as many demons had red eyes. What was the big deal? Still... He wore a red pinstripe coat with dark-red lapels piped with white above a bright red dress shirt with black cross on the chest. He had long black dress pants with bright red cuffs. He had a dark red monocle rimmed with black over his right eye. He accessorized with a black knotted bowtie with a red center, black gloves with red at the fingertips, and pointed toe-boots. He held a cane with a vintage microphone attached to the end, which he pointed at the camera.

He was... unsettling. At the bottom of the picture written in red ink, it said Opening Day! It was scratched out with black ink. There were more pictures—one with Husk and Niffty, one with Husk and a girl I didn't recognize who had her face crossed out, and one with just that red freak. Plans and blueprints for the casino were stuck to the board with thumbtacks. I wanted to inspect them all, but I knew I was running out of time. I checked the alarm clock on Husk's nightstand. Around three in the morning. I sighed at began to look at the other pictures before I left. I grabbed the one of Husk's smiley friend, trying to find a name. Maybe I would know who he was. Maybe I would—

"Angel Dust? What the fuck are you doing in my room?"

Shit. "Oh, I just wanted to see you, amore mio..."

He scowled at me and flipped me off, hiding under the blankets on his bed. "Get the fuck out."

"Yes, sir."

[ Two hundred reads! Wow! Thank you all so much! A little update on the chapters, usually I try to publish at least one a day, but that might slow down as I have some problems in my life currently. However, I will still try to publish them often! This chapter is a little short, because I'm basically just trying to introduce Husk's boss—impossible to guess who it is, I know—as a character, because he will be important later on in the story. Especially when we get to the angsty parts... But never mind that. Thank you for reading! ]
