Binded Strings

Chapter 1

                       
   Dad and mom murmured in the car as we approached our house, we had just finished mass and I have to say, I had slept through the service, mom had to pitch my arms each time I did so, and it was pretty annoying, as the car stopped, I jumped out of it not looking backwards but heading for my room.
     “Kathy!!!!”,Dad called out loud.
      “Do you want my help?”.I frowned.
     “Yes I do, your brother will be here with his wife, they will be here for Lunch, so it's up to you and your mom to prepare Lunch.
     “Am busy!”,I complained.
     “Doing what exactly, get your ass to the kitchen in 3 minutes”,Dad shouted.
     “Hunny, that word shouldn't be allowed here”,Mom smiled at him.
      “We are all adults here hunny”.Dad muttered, dragging his pants up in a dramatic way.
In the kitchen, mom was busily preparing lunch for her family. The smell of fresh-baked bread filled the air, and the sound of the stovetop humming filled the room. Mom hummed along to a tune in her head as she chopped vegetables for a salad. Her family would be complete soon, I reckon she wanted to have a delicious
meal ready for everyone, she smiled slowly revealing that pretty and youthful age.
   Sometimes I wonder what my mom really saw in my dad. He was okay for a man his age, but he wasn't attractive either, unlike mom who's attractiveness could still be seen. The only thing I am proud I got from dad is his lovely sunset eyes, and I am proud I escaped every other.

     Am of average height, mid length brown hair and a lovely face and one very attractive thing about me is my long lashes, I could see mom rushing into the kitchen and out preparing Lunch for Peter and Hilly.
    Peter's my big brother, he has always been over protective of me from high school but we were torn apart when he decided he wanted to marry Hilly.Hilly and I weren't good friends since high school, sure we were class-mates but we never really liked each other and she had this annoying brother, his name was Jacob, he was Peter's friend and in their high school final.
      "They are here”,dad shouted.
     “Loud and clear”,I responded angrily.
     “Then go get the damn door”,Dad rushes into his room.
    I walked towards the door and opened it slowly, they both grinned like idiots, I didn't bother returning the smile.
     “Hey" .I say.
     “Hi sis”,Peter hesitated.
     “Are we coming in or not?”,Hilly snaps.
     “Only if you learn to….”,
      “We don't have time for this Kathy”, Peter warns.
      “Suit yourself”,I murmured, returning back to my room.
I went over to my Laptop and proceeded with my project when mom peeped.
     “Kathy please come down for Lunch”.
     “No, not with those two around”.
     “You are your brother, need to settle all this, do come down when you're done sweetheart”.
       “Sure mom" .I say.
Mom hesitated before leaving ,eyes glued to the screen of my laptop. My fingers flew across the keyboard, each tap of the keys making a satisfying "click" sound.
The sound of my breathing was the only other noise in the room, the silence broken only by the whirring of the laptop fan. As I worked, my brow furrowed in concentration, my eyes narrowing as I focused on the task at hand. Suddenly, I sat up straight, a smile spreading across my face.I had done it! I had finally finished the project that had been plaguing.As I  continued to type away at my laptop to put the finishing touches, I heard a faint sound coming from the next room. At first, I ignored it, but as the sound grew louder, I found myself distracted. She paused, her fingers hovering over the keyboard, as she strained to listen. It sounded like something - or someone - was moving around in the next room.I walked over to the room, hoping to find Peter and put him in his place .
      “Peter here you are, you think you could escape me that easily?”.
Silence….
      “Peter, what was that downstairs, you brought that bitch here so you two will gang up on me?”.
      “You have no right to call my sister a bitch”, the husky voice says and I could feel my knees as I remembered the voice.

      “Jacob?”.

      “Long time, little plant”.

       “What the fuck are you doing in my house?”.I screamed at him, trying to act brave.

       “We are family Kathy, so I can do whatever I want to do”.

       “You know pretty well, you are family to Peter and not me!!!”.

      “I can see you have become feisty”.He says, I took a good look at him, he was known to be tall, thick black hair and green eyes, he still hadn't lost his boyish cuteness since high school, he seemed more good looking.

      “We are having lunch downstairs, you're intruding”.I frown.

      “Well, I don't think so, because I was given permission, besides…”,he smirks, “we are family and you will be seeing me more often”.

      “Don't think so”,I snapped, turning immediately and not paying attention to his words when he grabbed my hands.
        “I made it pretty clear since high school that no one walks out on me”.
      I slapped his hands down, “This isn't high school, we aren't teenagers anymore so quit it”.

Mom and dad smiled when they saw me coming their way, Jacob followed behind me.
     “We have something to tell you guys”.Mom says.
     “What could that be?”,I asked.
     “Guess…”,Dad says.
     “Just spill the damn words already”.
      “We are going for a family vacation!!!”Mom screams happily and I can see Peter and Hilly beam widely.
      “I could do with a vacation”.I smiled.
      “And Jacob will be coming with us, he's family”,Dad announced and I felt weak.
      “Jacob isn't related, besides he has better things to do”,I protested.
      “Jacob, do you have anything to do?”.Dad frowns.
      “Of course not, I am delighted to be invited”.He smirks.
      “It's a one week something right?”.I said, perhaps a week could do, I would avoid him totally and never

listen to him.
      “It's gonna be a Month or more darling”.Mom says and I felt myself fall on the couch, mom caught me, “Sweetheart, sweetheart”. She seemed worried, whereas dad stood there frowning deeply.
      “Could you stop the act Kathy”, Dad warns.
      “This isn't fair”.I muttered.
I could see Hilly rushing over to dad and placing her filthy hands on his shoulder.
      “Oh daddy, when are we going for this wonderful vacation?”.
       “I checked my schedule and we will be leaving tomorrow, why do you think I called for this dinner huh?”.
       “Wasn't it Peter that decided to pay us a visit?”.I asked suddenly.
       “No Kathy”,Dad says calmly.
       “Sweetheart, let me help you pack”,Mom offers.
       “No!!!, you can as well invite the whole world for the fucking vacation”.I snapped and immediately regretted my words.
        "Kathy to your room”.Dad says.
       “But….”.I tried Protesting.
       “No buts”.
    I turned to Jacob, who grinned widely and it made me super annoyed. I rushed upstairs, sinking into my bed and pretending to be taking a nap still I was sure I heard their car drive off.
