???'s POV:
The endless terror darkness brought with it, swallowed the area, hiding things that shouldn't be seen by one. During this hour of the night, all that was to be heard in this frightening silence was the sound of every breath that I took and every step that I landed on the concrete, though both quickened with every bypassing second.
Everything seemed to leave a weight on my body. Limbs that were so stiff, a simple movement would cause an exaggerated amount of pain, thoughts so lost and scrambled, all I could think of was to run and eyelids that seemed to carry the weight of all the tears that couldn't escape the very eyes that had to witness everything.
Though eventually, I could sense myself nearing the exit as my body turns sharp at a corner, barely managing to stay on my feet. The green light of the emergency exit sign seemed like a gift brought upon me by heaven itself, as this might end the pain. Or at least for a little while. If I could just push my body just a little bit further. Only as much as it takes to reach the last distance that separated the freedom from me. Nothing could stop me from rushing towards the pearly gates, as nothing could make me stay in this nightmare for longer than I need to.
All it took was those seconds of anything else but focus, and my body crashed down. Several parts if my limbs scraped past the freezing concrete floor, that eventually grew warm with the assistance of the blood that seeped out of my vessels generously. Quickly, I forced myself to focus yet again.
I started crawling.
My scrapes dragged and rubbed past the dirtied concrete floor, as I dragged my overly exhausted figure to the emergency exit. My right arm seemed to find itself fully unable to function, a broken bone hindering it from moving even anything close to an inch, without tons of pain coming crashing down at my arm. My legs had exhausted themselves to a point of numbness, where they seemed to barely show any use to inching forward.
So in all desperateness, I extended my left arm to grab onto anything in the floor and slowly pull me forward. He was on his way. And he wouldn't be stopping until my flesh and guts were scrambled over the place, the blood haunting those who might cross paths with where my soul last lied.
I finally halted, being near enough to reach for the door handle. I cautiously pulled it down in a great attempt to not cause any noise while doing so and-
Nothing. It didn't budge.
And his figure was already rushing through the corridors of this building.
