Chapter 5

Skye's POV

I handcuff the two men, both previously shot with icers, and hope that Coulson and the others are able to take out Ward. I shiver just thinking of him, so I try not to.

Finally, they return, breathing heavily. Me and Coulson look at each other and I can tell he's still alive. "He got away." Coulson says. I nod knowingly. "Next time we see him, we shoot him. We just have to make sure he doesn't hurt Bobbi or anyone else on our team."

We're driving back to where the plane is parked and cloaked. "Are you sure about Clem and Winter?" Asks Mack suddenly. "They're so young." He says.

Coulson forces a small smile, Ward still probably on his mind. "I'm sure. They'll be an asset in the future." Mack shakes his head and says louder, "Not if they die. Coulson, I'm telling you. They're too young to be on the field." At the mention of the girl's death, my heart tenses.

"They won't die, Mack," I say harshly, "I'll work train Clem well and Bobbi is a great fighter - I'm sure she'll take care of Winter. Besides, They have all of us. It'll be fine." I continue. We ride in silence until we reach the plane.

Clem's POV

I wake up to the touch of a hand on my arm and flinch away. "Sorry!" Quickly whispers a voice. The small lamp beside me blinks on and I see skye. Remembering what she said yesterday, I smile. "Training?" I ask.

"Yeah," she replies, "and sorry if I scared you. Come with me." I start to go but hesitate. I still don't really know these people."W..Where?" I ask. She pauses in her tracks and turns, looking concerned. "Just downstairs. What's wrong?"

I shake my head and get out of bed to follow her, but she doesn't move. "Really, Clem. What is it?" I shrug and look at the ground, whispering into the dark, still, morning air inside the plane, "I only just met you, that's all."

I look up to see Skye looking at me. I look away and say, "let's go." Without a word, Skye starts off towards the exercise room and I follow her.

Skye's POV

Me and Clem are deep into our training. We fight, light contact, and I knock her down a number of times. Each time I give tell her how to prevent my attacks as she bounces right back up from the floor.

I dig the fake rubber gun out from behind some punching bags and bring it up, pointing it at Clem. She lets out a little gasp and moves to the side quickly as if she thinks I'll shoot her. I drop the for gun to my side. "Clem," I sigh, "it's fake. Look, I know you just met me, but you can trust me. You can trust all of us."

She looks at the ground, seeming embarrassed. "I'm sorry" she mumbles. We practice with the fake gun for a while. I show her how to evade attacks and take guns from enemies.

After, I sit on a large bag laying on it's side and motion for Clem to sit next to me. She does without hesitation, but I still see the worry in her eyes. "Tell me about boarding school." I say, causing her to squirm.

"Well,"she says carefully, "it was big, and there were lots of people..." She trails off. I ask, "did you trust the people there?" She shakes her head, "they were jerks."

I nod. "I never really fit in either. I went from foster home to foster home. Shield is the only place I've ever felt at home." Clem smiles and looks around the exercise room, her eyes finally brightening. "I do like it here." She says.

"I'm glad." I say. "Do you think you're ready?" She nods, and I hope she's right.

Bobbi's POV

Coulson calls a meeting around the holo table and tells us that the two men we took in from our fight with that hydra group yesterday told him that Ward is rebuilding hydra. He's taking people from the index and today he's getting Lindsay Williams, a woman the ability to pull things towards her. She can pull down buildings, and we have to stop him from taking her.

"We're going to need all the people we have for this." He says. Me and winter look at each other and I see Skye and Clem doing the same. "Even Winter and Clem?" Asks Mack, frowning.

"Of course." Coulson says. "They're part of the team'" he pauses and looks at them, "but they won be alone. Bobbi, I need you and Winter to find Lindsay Williams without causing a disturbance. Me and the rest of the team will cross off Ward."

I nod, and look at Winter. She gives me a wavering, unsure smile.
