"bless your honeysuckle heart, aw."
MEET JODI MAY CLEMENTS a sarcastic nineteen year old girl from the city of seattle, washington. coming from a home of just one mother and two younger siblings, her father having walked out god knows how many years ago, jodi has been known to work for what is given to her and that is no surprise when she is accepted into the sydney college of the arts (which is, not to mention, halfway across the world). jodi actually contemplated on the decision of not attending and staying in seattle while skipping the offer altogether and attending community college courses. she didn't think she would get in or yet alone have to move away, she couldn't possibly imagine leaving the her family either. but, her mother insisted through happy tears that going to the school of arts was the only best decision for her daughter. so, leaving her family behind with promises to write and call every weekend, jodi began her journey in her new home away from with troubles adjusting to a whole new society, a touchy feminist roommate, and four unlikely friends as maneuvers her way through her freshman year.
// LUKE HEMMINGS
portrayed by: himself
"say hi to the camera, beautiful."
MEET LUKE ROBERT HEMMINGS a nineteen year old dreamer with aspirations of becoming a popular film director in the movie world. at just the young age of seventeen, luke was accepted onto the waiting list of the school of arts for film and photography. once he finished his high school education he immediately packed his bags and headed off to enter the world of his own. he got into the school by scholarship, his tuition funds being automatically taken care of by his wealthy family's money. despite that fact that his father hated the fact of his son wanting to be - out all things - a filmmaker when he could be running the family law business with his two brothers, ben and jack. luke never had the best relationship with his father and being the rebellious type, he didn't quite care about what anyone had to say. aside from his family problems of which he refuses to discuss often, luke lives in his own apartment off campus just a few miles away by bus but he occasionally walks to school. luke and his camera are now taking on his first year at the school of arts along with new challenges, hopes, and ambitions.
// CALUM HOOD
portrayed by: himself
"one day, i'm gonna make it big, watch me."
MEET CALUM THOMAS HOOD a nineteen year old dropout from the college of the arts. calum's dreams turned down a different path when his band broke up in the year of 2012, causing him to head towards an opposite direction with his life though his music is still a huge part of who he is as a person. he performs in small coffee shops nowadays as a side gig with the accompaniment of his guitar and somewhat soothing vocals (they aren't that soothing in his opinion), entertaining quiet audiences with little to give and scraping up whatever amounts of money he can along with his paycheck to make rent or buy food. he now lives in a cramped studio apartment that's the size of shoe, next to a cheap bar which is always good when he needs a drink from the stress of his job. calum interns at a big time record company in the downtown area of sydney with the job of making coffee and donut runs and taking lunch orders. it isn't the most glamorous life yet he swears it won't be this way forever, but, then again, he isn't too sure about that either.
// ASHTON IRWIN
portrayed by: himself
"i think we could all use a little more peace in our lives."
MEET ASHTON FLETCHER IRWIN a nineteen year old college student, attending sydney college of the arts in australia and majoring in painting - specifically watercolor painting. he shared a dorm room on campus with one of his best friends, decorating their small living space with packs of incense, various types of dreamcatchers, and soy candles in mason jars. ashton felt he was one with nature, making sure to always eat organic and deciding to be a vegetarian when he was sixteen, as well as taking frequent hikes on the weekends and bringing containers of granola to feed the birds he came across. the artist had a relatively tough childhood but stayed brave throughout, having his father walk out on his family at a young age and becoming a role model for his two younger siblings. he had an extremely bubbly personality and a loud giggle, though he was often the mature one and the voice of reason in his group of friends.
// MICHAEL CLIFFORD
portrayed by: himself
"just 'cause i'm a classical musician doesn't mean i can't have fun."
MEET MICHAEL GORDON CLIFFORD an outgoing, rambunctious musical prodigy, finishing up his first semester at sydney college of the arts. he'd developed a passion for classical music at a young age and had the advantage of being a doted on only child, begging his parents to sign him up for lessons and purchase a yamaha cello for his eighth birthday. he was an extremely hard worker and his persistence amazed his instructors. at the age of fifteen, michael was blinded ninety five percent in both eyes, but that didn't stop him from becoming a successful cellist and being accepted into many art schools around australia. he often teased his roommate, ashton, and bothered him by playing his stravinsky cd too loud while in the shower, though he felt like it made up for ashton filling up their dorm with his art supplies and books on different types of trees. when michael had time off, he spent his time at the bar with his closest friends, having a beer and letting loose.
// GWENYTH CASTELLANOportrayed by: stella hudgens
"i don't need a man to make me happy, i can do that on my own."
MEET GWENYTH CECILIA CASTELLANO going to school for a profession in theatre, gwenyth (or gwen to those that knew her well) was a lively, feisty girl with a fun loving attitude. after a tough breakup with her ex boyfriend, calum hood, she decided to reinvent herself and become more independent, finding herself more aware to social issues in the process and confidently able to call herself a feminist. gwen often spent her afternoons in the dorm, chatting with her roommate jodi or watching broadway performances on youtube for hours on end. she came from a large italian family who hailed from the north end in boston, massachusetts, her father owning a quaint bakery on the main street and her mother working as a prosecution lawyer. overall, gwenyth was a strong, loyal friend who would always stick by her companions, although sometimes she could be a bit insensitive and had a tough exterior.
