CHAPTER 3

"I am afraid we couldn't help you miss." The inspector casually sipped his tea as he went through the files.

Emily groaned internally.

"Please Inspector...we need your help. Two brains is greater than one. It would be great help for you as well."

The inspector sighed. "Look here miss...we only give access of investigatory files to authorised private investigators, not the general public."

Kaylee suddenly stood up.Emily looked at Kaylee with surprise.

"It's alright sir. Thank you for your help." Kaylee grabbed Emily's hand and pulled her out of the room.

"What are you doing Kaylee?"
Emily asked, seething with anger.

Kaylee silenced her with a finger while she was busy dialling a number in her phone.

"Heyyy old pal! How're you doing?.....I'm fine as well.....Well I have a case for you, incase you're interested......cool when can we meet you?"

Kaylee signalled Emily for a pen, who groaned and gave her a pen from her handbag, careful not to hurt her hand.

Kaylee took the pen from Emily and began to write in her palm.
"Mmhhmm...yeah.... thanks we'll be there by tomorrow morning."

Soon, Kaylee hung up her phone.

"What's going on? Who did you call and why did you storm out of the police station before we could negotiate?" Emily bombarded Kaylee with questions.

"Woah woah woah..too many questions. First, I called a friend of mine who works under a private investigation company and he said he'll take a look at the case. He has given me the address so we'll meet them tomorrow in ge morning.And I hope this solves your other questions." Kaylee began typing away in her phone.

Emily breathed a sigh before running her fingers through her face.

"All this is going to make me grow a grey hair."

Emily looked at Kaylee who was analysing the copy of the autopsy report at Emily's room.

"Hmm....it says she died of blood loss...and it also says she faced pressure in her pharynx which means...."

"Someone had tried to choke her" Emily gasped the rest of the sentence.

"Yes. But what surprises me is that there is no evidence of a single foreign DNA in her body. They must have used gloves. This only confirms that this is a planned murder." Kaylee puts down the report on the table.

Emily stood up from her chair. "So this murderer knew exactly when she would leave the house, set up a vehicle to topple the car and once they knew she wasn't dead, tried to choke her, but failed to do so and in a haste, sliced her jugular vein."

Kaylee looked up at Emily in wonder. "Woah....you're smart."
Emily rolled her eyes playfully and went in front of the large whiteboard she had purchased earlier.

"I wish this whiteboard had another purpose...." Emily sighed and wrote the evidence she had gathered.

Cause of death: Blood Loss
Notable Injuries: Wound on  Pharynx due to choking.
Clues: No foreign DNA found on body.
