Day Six

As I walk into the house I pass the kitchen, where a wave of delicious smells hits my nose.

"Sage, baby?" Momma calls. I enter and she hands me an envelope, "This came for you today."

I open my mail and examine the new issued state ID. During the Life Accords, men were given ID's, but women only received ID's identifying them with their husbands name. In addition, previously, only men were allowed to drive, but with the revoke of the Life Match Accords, operating a motor vehicle was fair game.

I looked over my new ID, feeling the laminated perfection of being addressed as a single person, not part of a pair. My phone rings and I check to see who it is. Jericho.

"Hey," I answer.

"Do you want to go on a date with me? Tomorrow maybe?" he races the words, wanting them out his mouth before he can back down from asking me.

I hesitate, "Jer...."

"I know what you're going to say, but I feel bad that we... um... we... you know.... I just really wish I could've taken you on a date first," he struggles for the words, but finds them eventually.

"Okay," I agree, "One date."

"What if it turns into two?" he asks hopefully.

"We're starting with one," I state before hanging up.

Momma peeks around the corner, "Are you feeling better, Sweetie? Jericho was here earlier and he said you were feeling sick this morning."

"I'm okay," I reply. I glance around my room, noticing for the first time in a long time it's really dirty. I'll have to clean it.

My mother leaves and I pull the small card from my pocket, reading it over and over again until I've memorized every inch of the 2 by 3 card. I could call him. I really could.

I slide the card between my mattress and look around my room.

But first, let me clean my room.

The next day I get up and dress myself, attaching my new ID to the breast pocket of my dress. I slip out the house early, opting to walk to school instead of catching a ride with my father. I arrive too early, so I have to wait for the doors to be unlocked.

I pull out my phone and stare at the key pad, comtemplating for the thousandth time whether to call Riah or not.

"Who are you calling?" my head snaps up and his tall stature blocks out the sun.

"Riah," I stand up, "Why are you here?"

"I wanted to say hi," He grins. Like he didn't just break my heart a few days ago. Before I know what I'm doing, I slap him. His head snaps to the side with the force.

It feels good, and I can't help but repeat the action. SLAP! SLAP!

His face burns red from where I hit him. I start to go for it again, but he catches my wrist, pulling me to his body. My heart beat quickens as he leans in close, "I probably deserved that. But another would've been too much, yes?"

My mouth goes dry and I swallow. Hard.

"Nobody is around," he mumbles, kissing my neck, "Nobody would know if something were to... happen."

"I know," my voice comes out weak.

"Do you want me to kiss you?" Riah asks me.

I slap at my neck, shooing away a bug. I sit up, realizing that it was a dream. There was no Riah. The sea of students entering the building continues past me.

"Are you ready to go in now?" Mirabelle asks me. I jump at the sound of her voice, "You looked so peaceful. I didn't want to wake up."

I stand up, "Okay. Let's go."

A/N: Sorry this is really short. I've been working on some other projects, plus I've been busy and been battling a severe case of writter's block.

Next chapter will probably have Sage and Jericho's date and then I think I know where I want the book to go from there....

Anyway, here is a snippet from my new book, Jonas& Arianna: The Senior Year of Firsts. Tell me what you think and maybe go check out the rest of the book.

"Come on," Jonas grabs my hand and leads me from the commons, guiding me to the art commons instead. I hold on to him, smiling. When we're finally out of sight he kisses me, his finger tips playing with the hem of my shirt. We hear a teacher's voice nearby and duck behind a bench. When I turn around Jonas is grinning at me.

"Is this turning you on?" I ask him.

"It isn't turning me off," he replies, his hand traveling to his pocket. With the teacher gone, Jonas maneuvers onto the bench and I slide his jeans down, his large erect c0ck springing free.

My alarm wakes me just as Dream Me was wrapping her lips around Dream Jonas. I feel unreasonably hot and I feel a blush rush to my face when I notice Renae loitering in my door way.

"Are you okay, honey?" she asks worry in her voice, "The nightmares aren't back are they?"

"I'm fine," I lie, pushing thoughts of the dream from my mind. She stares at me a beat longer before moving on. I splash water in my face. What the hell was that?
