The way that she imagined her sophomore year going was far from how the universe decided to let it play out. She never would have guessed that she'd be dating Isaac, one of her longtime best friends. She didn't think she would be getting powers, either. Or that Scott McCall and Harley Lennox would be werewolves on the first line. Both were now Jackson Whittemore's nemeses. That thought had never even crossed their minds before Jackson had started coming for them at every turn.
Asher wasn't unhappy with her life, not by a long shot. She'd found a good friend in Allison Argent, and even in Lydia Martin. Her new relationship with Isaac was far from a complaint. But it was all so new and she wasn't entirely sure she knew what it all meant. More and more she's noticing little things she makes happen, and it almost always happens when she's not trying. She's torn between trying to get a grip herself or going to Derek Hale for help. He was a born werewolf, he knew better than Scott or Stiles what control was. No, she wasn't a werewolf, but she had powers she couldn't control and those powers have unknown potential and could possibly hurt people. She needed Derek Hale, but she also hated that she had to choose knowing it would upset her brother. And if her father found out she was in deep shit. He arrested Derek not that long ago, his teenage daughter shouldn't be anywhere near someone who was a murder suspect. There was no way she could sneak around without getting caught or looking suspicious. She found herself stuck between a rock and hard place and she couldn't find anything to get herself unstuck.
She glanced at her nightstand, her hair was splayed out over her pillows as she reached for her phone. Isaac had texted her;
got the weekend off, said he has another "work trip"
She smiled to herself, feeling giddy at the thought of spending the weekend with him but also relieved that his father would be gone. They both knew that there was no work trip, because what cemetery sends their caretakers on business trips? Isaac mentioned before that he knew the work trips were cover stories for his father, who just wanted to get away for days at a time to see women and drink. Regardless, it gave him a break and he appreciated it.
Her brother and Harley had insisted that Scott needed to have a little fun, let loose for a night. Allison had broken things off, which had not entirely come as a surprise.
Scott was hiding things, and Asher knew that they were things that Allison could not be privy to, but Allison didn't know that. She liked a boy and that boy was hiding things, the justification was there.
"I don't know, do you think I made the right decision?" Allison sighed, rolling over to face Asher.
Asher hasn't expected Allison to call her up that morning and ask for a girl's day. She would have assumed Lydia would be the first to call. But according to Allison, she wasn't ready to be paraded around for the single lacrosse players. She didn't want that at all, and Asher couldn't blame her. Lydia would have insisted that Allison move on, like, yesterday.
"It's hard to tell. Sometimes the right answers don't come right away." Asher shrugged, setting her phone back down on her nightstand.
"I guess you're right." Allison sighed, tugging sadly at a strand of her perfectly curled hair.
Both girls jumped apart at the sudden ringing of Asher's phone.
"Stiles?" Allison asked.
Asher shook her head, "Isaac."
"I'm gonna go home now, if I'm late my dad will kill me." Allison sighed , giving Asher a small grin that she swore fit Allison Argent better than anyone else in the entire world.
