It's been a few days since we went cliff jumping and everything has been great up until today. I have a strange feeling that something is going to happen and I don't know if it's a good strange or a bad strange. I let Sam and the guys know so they can be on the look out for anything that seems off. Embry thinks that someone else might be shifting soon, but I don't know. I guess we will just have to wait and find out.
We all just got done eating and currently sitting in the kitchen watching Paul and Jared race to see how many marshmallows they can fit in their mouths. So far it is a tie. They both have 15 each in their mouths. Embry has a phone out recording them while Emily and I are just laughing at them for being idiots. Sam is just shaking his head and just sits on the couch watching TV.
"Hey guys, what was the point in all of this again?" I ask.
Jared looks at me and tries to speak "mvhmvbbchh." I just laugh because I have no idea what he is trying to say.
"What?" That was when Paul tried to speak up.
"Hdhdjsnbfgasdoudh." I tried to keep a straight face, but I failed because they both look like chipmunks trying to store nuts for the winter. I quit laughing when Sam suddenly bolts up from the couch.
"Spit the marshmallows out! Jacob just shifted. Let's go!" Jared quickly spit out the marshmallows, then jumped up and slapped Paul on his back real hard before he could finish spitting them out. Paul immediately started choking on a marshmallow and Embry tried to help him by patting his back. When he finally got it out, he glared hard at Jared and started chasing him out of the house with Sam and Embry right behind them.
"Don't you just love a man-child Emily?" She just laughs and then agrees with me. "Well I'm off to bed because I am tired. Sam can introduce me to Jacob tomorrow." I then head to the room and go to bed after changing into some pajamas. I start getting the strange feeling again and I'm starting to get worried. I push it away for now and decide to deal with it tomorrow if it continues.
-- THE NEXT DAY --
I wake up the next morning and it is quiet throughout the house. I don't hear anyone which is odd because I always hear one of the guys in the morning. No matter what time of the day is. I look at the clock and it read 8:04 AM. Yup. Definitely strange that I don't hear anybody until I heard a slight creak in one of the floorboards from the front room. I quickly summon up my sword and don't bother changing. I don't know who is in this house and I'm not going to wait around in this room to find out. I make my way to the door and slowly open it. I look up and down the hallway and don't see anybody. I hear a floorboard creak again. Yup. Someone is definitely in the house.
I quietly tiptoe out of the bedroom and down the hall toward the living room with my sword drawn. As I get closer, I can sense the person just around the corner getting closer. I grab the sword with both hands and lift it up. I start to bring it down as the person turns the corner, but quickly stop once I realize who it is.
"AHHHHHH!" we both scream.
"JARED! WHAT THE HELL!?!?" I yell at him. "I COULD'VE KILLED YOU!"
Jared just looks at me wide eyed with a hand over his chest while leaning against the wall. "WHY DO YOU HAVE YOUR SWORD OUT?!?!" All the yelling caused everyone to come running in the house. When Jared finally relaxes a little bit and his heart rate lowers, he slowly slides down the wall with his eyes closed. "Oh my god! I'm too young to have a heart attack. I can't see the light just yet."
Sam sees that I have my sword out and questions it. "Why do you have your weapon out Grace?"
"Well, when I woke up a few minutes ago it was completely dead silent in here which is not normal. Then all of a sudden I hear the floorboard creak a couple of times so I had to investigate. I thought someone broken in or something."
