The Fallen Angel

Chapter 10

Ever since Bella told her dad that there was wolves in the woods, him and Harry has been out there as much as they could while the guys have been chasing after the red headed vampire. They are forced to be extra careful so they wouldn't be spotted by the group that is hunting them. I haven't been able to join the guys anymore because of this so I asked Harry if I can help with the "hunt" and he said I could. Since I'm now helping Harry, us both can cover more ground by covering up anything that could've been accidently been left behind by the guys. I don't have any experience with guns, but Harry said all I had to do was carry it around and look like I knew how to use it. He gave me the basic rundown because just in case, but we both knew that I wouldn't be using it. I'm carrying around my sword also, but the others won't be able to see it. All I have to do is conjure it up if I need it.

Currently the guys are out in the woods chasing the vampire again while I'm out helping Harry. We were walking until all of a sudden Harry stopped and I see him staring at the ground. I go over to him and look down to see what he was staring at. It was a paw print.

"Harry, did you find something?" Charlie asks. We both look up at at Charlie and he was staring at both of us.

"No," Harry says. When Charlie turns back around and continues walking, Harry rubs his foot over the paw print to get rid of it. We look at each other for a second before I said something.

"Let's keep going before more questions are asked." Harry and I kept walking, looking around for anymore paw prints. Not too long after we started walking, the vampire had Harry held up by the collar of his shirt, lifted off the ground. I start running back toward Harry and conjured up my sword. Before I made it to Harry, she dropped him and ran off. The guys running past me to go after her. I check on Harry and he is having trouble breathing while holding his chest. I'm no doctor, but I think he is having a heart attack. I quickly call for Charlie. "CHARLIE! HELP!" Not too long, I can see Charlie running toward us.

"What happened?"

"I don't know. We were just walking and he just fell down." Charlie takes a look at him and starts worrying.

"He's having a heart attack. We need to get out of here fast!" We quickly got Harry out of the woods and took him to the hospital. All I could do was pray that Harry made it. Sue and her kids would be devastated if something happened. When we finally made it to the hospital, the nurses quickly rushed him in and Charlie and I had to wait in the waiting room. Charlie is sitting down with his head in his hands.

"I'll make some phone calls to let everyone know what's going on."

"Okay." That was all Charlie said. I know how he is feeling. I got up and walked outside to start making phone calls. The first one I made to Sue and then to Billy and Emily. Sam was most likely still out chasing so I called Emily instead. Within the next 2 hours, everyone made it to the hospital except Jake. Where in the hell is he? We have yet to hear any news from the doctor on what was going on and all they would tell Sue was that he was in surgery. Another 2 hours later and the doctor finally comes out just as Jake was coming into the waiting room.

"Family of Harry Clearwater?" Everyone of us that was in the waiting room all stood up. The doctor just looked at us speechless before speaking again. "Okay. How about the wife of Harry Clearwater?" Sue stepped forward.

"That would be me. I'm Sue Clearwater."

"Would you like to speak in private?"

"No. It's okay to speak in front of everyone. This is all family right here." The doctor nodded his head and began telling us what happened to Harry.

"Alright. As you know, Harry had a heart attack and he had to have surgery because there was a blocked artery that needed to be opened. What we did is called a Coronary Angioplasty and Stenting. We took a catheter to the narrowed part of the heart artery and a tiny balloon is inflated to help widen the blocked artery and improve blood flow. Once we did that, we put in a stent to help keep the artery open and to lower the risk of the artery narrowing again. Everything went good and he's doing well. Once he is recovered, he can go home but he has to have lots of rest. No lifting anything heavy, don't do anything that could cause tension on his heart or chest and no strenuous activities. He needs to focus on having a healthier diet to help with his heart, be in a stress-free environment and do some exercises. All of this can help him slowly get back into his regular activities. Once he's ready to go home, I'll have what all I said with a lot of other information printed out on paper. Again like I said, lots and lots of rest. That's about it. Do you have any questions?"

"No. Thank you doctor. Can anyone see him yet?"

"Yes, but only two at a time right now. The only exception I will make is that you can have both of your kids with you when you go back. As for everyone else, only two at a time." The doctor gave out the room number, then her, Seth and Leah went back to see Harry. We were all grateful that Harry survived and his kids will continue to grow up with their dad by their sides. While everyone started conversing among themselves, Jake and I hugged each other. I pulled away after a few minutes and started questioning him.

"Where were you?"

"Let's go talk outside. Not in here." I nodded my head and we went outside to go sit on a bench we saw coming in. It was silent for a few seconds before he started speaking.

"I had to drag Bella out of the water." When I gave him a confused look, he continued. "She decided to go cliff diving."

"With the weather being as bad as it is right now? Is she insane? Even you guys would've had trouble swimming in it."

"I know, but I couldn't let my friend die because of her reckless decision." I know he has a good heart, but I don't like Bella because I know she is planning something. Just don't know what it is yet. "There is something else I got to tell you about Bella."

I looked at him, wondering what else he would want to say about her. "What is it?"

"I went to take her home and I gave her two different blankets and the jacket that she had in her truck  because she was cold, but she didn't think that was good enough." I nodded my head. I have an idea where this was going and I know I'm not going to like it. "She tried to scoot over next to me and cuddle up. I tried to push her off, but she obviously wouldn't take the hint. When I was able to finally get her to stop, she got mad and went to go get out of her truck but I stopped her because I smelled a vampire. She said it was a Cullen, but I didn't believe her at first because if a Cullen is back then we wouldn't be able to protect her. She didn't care at all. It did end up being a Cullen, but they went off somewhere because the other one that she was dating is apparently going to get himself killed." I looked at him with a surprised expression. "I tried to stop her, but she wouldn't listen."

"First, why in the hell would she go back to a guy that left her behind in the middle of the woods with a broken heart? I don't like Bella and probably never will, but even I wouldn't do that. I know you're trying to be a good friend, but you can't force her to do something she doesn't want to do. Especially to someone that was playing with your heart strings and just using you to fill a void."

"I know. Yes, I may no longer have a crush on her but I'm still her friend because I've known her since we were kids. Now that I think about it, she had a problem with age when we talked about it before I phased." Once he said that, everything clicked together.

"Everything makes sense now."

"What is that?"

"She never acted on your crush because you're not a vampire. You say that she has a problem with age. It's because she wants to live forever and it sounds like she's afraid of getting older. Her ex or something or whatever the hell he is to her is her golden ticket to immortality." We look at each other and I could see that he was thinking about what I said to him. Understanding finally went across his face.

"That does make sense. All we can do is remind her of the key point in the treaty."

"That's them about biting a human right?"

"Yup." We sat in silence for a little bit before we hear a commotion coming from the hospital doors. It was the guys dragging a shaking Leah and Seth to the woods that was not too far behind the hospital. Jake and I look back at each other for a second before we bolted over to help. By the time we got to them, Seth and Leah already shifted. Seth was pouncing around and shaking his tail while Leah was growling at everyone that got close to her. Man, this is going to be a long night.

"What caused them to shift?" I asked Sam.

"They overheard us talking about how Harry got a heart attack." I nodded my head. Not knowing what to say. "You, Jake and Embry can go ahead and head home. We got this from here."

"Are you sure?" Jake asks Sam.

"Yeah. We will explain everything to them. If we need help with anything, I will call." With that being said, Embry went home and Jake and I went to his house. We were tired after the long and eventful day we had today. I hope that it gets better from here on out, but one can only hope.
