Chapter 15

Suddenly, he was turned away from me and someone kneed him in his downstairs area. Hard enough to make him collapse on his knees. I took that as my chance and shoved everyone out of my way.

Sliding my hoodie back on, I hightailed it out of there and sat against the window. I was relieved to be getting fresh air, but at the same time, the trauma of what just happened lingered in my head. I wanted so badly for Aubrey to be wrong about him.

The truth was, I was the naive girl who fell for his charms. Tears were racing down my cheeks and I was sure that my face was turning a beet red.

I looked like a mess, but I didn't care. Aubrey came rushing outside and looked both ways for any signs of me. I sprung up and ran toward her to apologize for not listening to her.

"Aubrey!"

She gave my condition a onceover; my red and puffy eyes along with my beet red face. A mix of melancholy and remorse were clouding her eyes. She had no reason to feel guilty though.

I really thought that I was going to be okay. If I hadn't drank so much water, I wouldn't have needed to go to the bathroom. If I didn't go to the bathroom, he never would've been able to trap me in that corner and touch me inappropriately. "What happened?"

I froze. I furrowed my brows and tilted my head to the side. Even though I didn't see who kneed him, I just assumed it was her because she was the only one in that club that would be overprotective of me.

Her and maybe Kayla if she sobered up right away upon seeing me in that corner. "Wh-wh-wh-what do you mean what happened? You didn't see Elliot touch me?"

Instantaneously, her remorseful expression was substituted by widened eyes and her bottom lip fell slightly ajar. That quickly changed. Her eyes darkened in anger and I could see, under her chin, that her jaw was clenched. No one needed any special mind-reading skills to know that she was plotting his murder in her head.

"I thought you were the one who kneed him in the... you-know-what area."

"No, I wasn't. I just saw you running out and someone beating someone up in the hallway. I wanted to make sure you were okay. But after hearing what he did to you, I wish I was there to beat the crap out of him."

"I'm so, so sorry, Aubby! You were trying to warn me all along that he was a bad person, but I was too blind to see it! I should've listened to you, but I was this stupid... naive little... b—"

"Don't say it. Don't you dare finish that sentence."

I was positive she would be taking the opportunity to say that she told me so. She may not have been saying it out loud, but I knew she was thinking it. "He's charming. Good looking. In your head, he was the perfect gentleman. I would've fallen for his charms too."

"Emory!"

I recognized that voice before I looked up. "Carson?"

He was dressed in a similar disguise as the one he wore during our first encounter. He was clad in a different colored hoodie, baggy jeans and sunglasses even at night and inside the building.

When he slid his sunglasses on top of his head, I noticed him shooting daggers at me. Carson had to have seen Elliot hurting me seeing he had clenched fists and a red face. "What the hell are you doing here?"

"It's K-it's Kayla's birthday today so we-w-we went... out to celebrate. What are you doing here?"

"I'm here with my friends. And you couldn't have celebrated at the house? You just had to go out clubbing where perverted assholes hunt for their next victims?"
