When Abhi finally noticed Mayank, he tapped on Adi's nape. Both got embarassed but Mayank smiled to made them ease.
"Dinner kar le Adi... be strong. I'm gonna engage you in a tough mission." Mayank gave a romantic stare to Abhi.
"Mm...matlab ?"
"Arey relax. Actually my parents are forcing for marriage, wo bhi pure sanskaar ke saath... the typical society things you know naa"
"My parents too..." Abhi added, "bas didi ki koi complain nahi hai"
"Haan to problem kya hai ? Just get married yaar..."
"Yaar Adi is foreign country mein saare rituals maanke shaadi kaise karein ? Aur tu jaanta hai na Indian marriage ka syllabus UPSC se bhi bade hain" Mayank pouted.
"To main kis liye zinda hun MC ? Bachpan me to Abhi ko bada dulhan dulhan bolta rehta tha! Legal dulhan nahi banana use ?"
"Pakka na ? Can you surely handle all arrangements ?"
The proposal worked like plaster on Adi's wounds. He agreed with great zeal not knowing what's coming next...
"I'll do anything for your happiness Mayu. Tu chill kar, main aur Daru sab sambhal lega"

15 days later
Their house totally got decorated with lots of marigold, rose and tulips. Except that a variety of lamps, fountains, curtains were placed to uphold the ceremony at a royal stage. Adi and Daru really arranged everything snugly. They even arranged an indian priest too. Abhi and Mayank along with their parents' became so much pleased on them for arranging so many things within a short duration.

Many people are invited including their business clients, indian neighbours and known foreigners too. They enthusiastically joined the ceremony to experience an Indian marriage. Daru fixed cameras on special spots to show their parents live telecast of all rituals.
The band party appeared soon with splendid noise of drums, clarinets and other instruments. The young guests started dancing with rhythm. Darshan dragged Adi for dance but he denied. Sat aside and thought --- if Shalini would be here, they could dance together.
"Arey naachte hi rahoge ? Ya haldi ceremony bhi shuru karoge ?" Mayank's mom yelled from live meeting.
"Sorry aunty, actually apke bete aur damad hi ready hone me time le raha hai..."
Daru abused the couple in mind and went for them. And their traditional look caused him open mouth widely.

"Jhakkaas!!" He commented.
They went for haldi ceremony not forgetting to greet guests first. The spot fixed for their haldi was looking extremely splendid. They folded their hands to hail patents after sitting there.

All the guests applied turmeric slightly on them. Adi and Daru first applied on Abhi's cheeks then attacked on Mayank's full face, neck, hands, even under his kurta too. When Daru stretched his pajama to apply turmeric on certain part, Mayank started abusing him in front of everyone;
"Arey relax, jahan jahan bhi ye haldi lagegi naa woh sab ekdum glow karenge"
"Teri glow ki maa ki...."
Abhi's face turned red with embarassment when all the guests started laughing. His and Mayank's parents too covered their ears from video call. Adi pinched Mayu to remind about his parents.
After a long laughing session the ceremony began again. (Being a Bengali I have not much idea on punjabi or any non-bengali wedding. So guys please imagine their remaining marriage rituals as your own state rituals please 🥺)
They signed the registration form and exchanged the platinum rings. Friends forced them to kiss eachother and they did shyly as their families were watching.
Their parents cut the call when all formalities were done. They didn't forget to advise them a lot for their future and the advice session ran for minimum one and half hours. So their friends didn't waste a single second to start the party cutting the call.

Abhi and Mayank sat on the couch in the centre of the hall and all started singing and dancing (and drinking) with full enjoyment. Some of the guests greeted them with flower bouquets. Adi signalled the newly married couple too for joining the dance. But Mayank mumbled for something here and there.
"Kya dhoond rahe ho ?" Abhi asked.
"My shoes"
"Shoes ? Tumhare pair me hi to tha!"
"Haan... pata nahi kahan chala gaya..."
"Kahin nahi gaya jija ji..... thousand dollars de denge to mil jayega" -- Darshan said holding a wine glass.
"Kya matlab ?"
"Abe chutiye, teri saali (sister-in-law) to yahan majoot nahi hai. To socha kiun na unki duty hum kar lein"
"Matlab ? Tune mera juta chhupaya paise ke liye ?"
"Haan la**de! Ye na karte to desi marriage ki vibes adhuri reh jaati. Ab nikal paise!"
"Bheekh maangne ka tareeka thoda casual hai chutiye!!"
Abhi couldn't control his laugh seeing poor Mayank taking his wallet and brat Darshan's grinning.
Time passed with fun, enjoyment and greetings. It was already 10.00 pm and the guests were about to leave after dinner. Suddenly Abhi noticed Adi isn't before his eyesight. He waited thinking Adi could go to washroom but worries hit his mind when the doctor didn't come back after minutes. Adi's vibes weren't good from that unholy day, he even tried to harm himself. So Abhi has to take more tension than necessity. He left the hall informing Mayank that he's going to washroom......
