Alice was sat in the forest picking flowers when Jo had called for her. "We must go pick up Amy, she is at the Laurence household." Jo says causing Alice to stand up quickly, following her family to the Laurence home.

"Amy! Are you in here?" Alice questions as she walks ahead, trying to find Amy. "Alice! My hand. Look." Amy says as Alice and Meg sit on the couch with Amy, comforting the younger girl.

Alice watches as Jo and Laurie converse, a small smile on her face. "It hurts so much." Amy says softly as she leans against Alice who sat behind her. "You ought to be the happiest boy in the world." Jo says as she marvels at the books.

"A fellow can't live on books alone." Laurie says as he turns to Alice and sends her a happy smile, Alice returning it. "I could. What did you do?" Jo questions as she passes her sisters on the couch.

"Nothing. I did a drawing, and then Mr. Davis hit me." Amy says, Alice knowing her mischievous sister all too well. "I simply think he was jealous of your talent and hit your palm as a way of silencing you." Alice says, Amy grinning at her.

"Oh, Christopher Columbus, look at that." Jo says as she stands in front of a large portrait of Mr. Laurence. "That's my grandfather. Are you scared of him?" Laurie questions.

"I'm not scared of anyone. He looks stern, but my grandfather was more handsome." Jo says, Alice noticing the older Laurence man walk in.

"Jo, we do not compare grandfathers." Alice says as she rubs Amy's shoulder with one hand, grasping Beth's hand with her other.

"You think he's more handsome, eh?" Mr. Laurence questions. "Oh... No, actually, you are very handsome. I didn't mean-" "I knew your mother's father." Mr. Laurence says, cutting off Jo's ramblings politely.

"You've got his spirit." Mr. Laurence concludes. "Oh, well, thank you, sir." Jo says as she lets out an airy laugh, moving to sit in a chair. "You are not to attend that school anymore." Marmee says.

"Good. That man has always been an idiot." Jo says which makes Alice laugh. "Jo will teach you." Marmee says. "Me? I already teach Beth." Jo complains. "I will teach you Amy." Alice says causing Marmee to smile.

"Yes, women being taught at home is more proper, I believe." Laurie's tutor says as he stands behind the couch. "Only because schools for women are poor." Meg says, Alice agreeing.

"I wish the teachers were women, maybe then we might be able to gain proper knowledge relating to our gender." Alice says as Amy sighs.

"I wish all the girls would leave and he would die." Amy says as Alice sighs. "You did wrong. There will be consequences." Marmee says as Amy gasps.

"I didn't even do anything. I just did a drawing." Amy protests. "Thank you so much for taking care of Amy." Marmee says. "Oh, yes, of course." Laurie says as he looks to the girls.

"My girls have a way of getting into mischief." Marmee says causing Laurie to chuckle. "Well, so do I." Laurie says. "Then you'll run over and we'll take care of you." Marmee says as she walks over, helping her daughters.

"Come over whenever you'd like. Invite Beth as well." Laurie says. "Yes!" Jo says happily. "Beth would adore the piano." Alice says softly. "Is she the quiet one?" Mr. Laurence questions.

"Yes, that's our Beth." Meg says. "Tell that little girl to use our piano." Mr. Laurence says, Alice grinning at the kind gesture. "Jo, borrow whatever book you'd like." Laurie says. "Can I come look at paintings?" Amy questions excitedly.

"Yes." Laurie says. "There's also a lovely greenhouse." Laurie's tutor says, everyone turning to him. "We must go. Girls." Marmee says as they all began leaving.

The four girls started speaking at once, but when Alice heard her name she turned. "I wanted to give this...to you." Laurie says as he hands her a leather bound journal, Alice's eyes widening.

"Oh, Laurie. I love it!" She exclaims as she swiftly wraps her arms around his neck, the boy laughing with her. "How did you know I needed another journal?" She questions, Laurie shrugging.

"Call it a hunch." Laurie says causing Alice to giggle. "Well thank you Laurie. It was wonderful to meet you Mr. Laurence. Good-bye!" She exclaims as she rushes away, her footsteps and laughter could be heard throughout the home.

That night Alice sat in her bed and began writing a new poem, smiling happily at her pages.

In tender whispers 'neath the moon's soft glow, Our two hearts entwined, in a sweet embrace, A dance of dreams where only we can know, the magic found in every touch, every trace.

"Alice dear, it's time for bed." Marmee says as she walks over, Alice nodding and turning to her candle, blowing out the flame.

The next morning when Alice was flipping through the pages of the book, she felt something off. She flipped to a page where a folded sheet of parchment sat, the girl grabbing it and unfolding it.

Dear Alice,

I wanted to give you this notebook because you truly inspire me. Your poems, your kindness, simply everything. You deserve pure and total happiness, and I hope this journal brings you just that.

with love,

Theo

Alice didn't know what love was at age 14, she didn't know what was the meaning of her heart feeling as if it were to beat out of her chest at any given moment.

She didn't know that the feeling she got around Laurie wasn't nausea, but it was nerves from simply being so incredibly nervous around him.

She had no idea that love was something so incredibly powerful that it would bring the two together no matter the situation.

Alice March had fallen in love with Theodore Laurence. Theodore Laurence had fallen in love with Alice March. But all of that would change as they both grew older. None of them ever seeing this coming.
