Starfruit landed in the grass with her parents, Queen Glory and King Deathbringer, and her siblings, Firefly and Leafshade. "Starfruit!" An excited voice said. Starfruit felt herself being tackled by something invisible. Her friends, Rainbow and Sunset, shimmered into view. Their parents, Turtle and Kinkajou, came flapping after them. "Don't just run off like that!" Turtle said, exasperated. "You could've TOLD us you were gonna say hi to your friend. We would've let you," Kinkajou added. "Why do both our dragonets have to take after you?" Turtle muttered to Kinkajou. Sunset grinned. "Sorry," She didn't sound sorry. Sunset had a SeaWing build, but without the spines on her back. She had scales that were different shades of pink and looked golden in the sunlight. Rainbow had a RainWing build but with gills and webbed talons. She didn't have a base color, at least not one that Starfruit had seen. She had different colored scales every half hour.

Five NightWings landed nearby. Two of them, who were purplish-black, bounded over. The third one walked more slowly with the fourth and fifth dragons. "Hi, Brightwings! Hi, Starcounter!" Sunset called, flapping over to the two NightWings. Firefly followed her and wrapped her wings around Blacksight. "Missed you," She murmured. Starfruit and Brightwings grinned as Rainbow asked, "Wait. Are they dating now?" Starcounter nodded. The 5 friends turned at the sound of wingbeats. They saw 4 SandWings flying out of the school. As the SandWings got closer, Starfruit saw that the first one had golden scales and golden-orange wings. "You guys are here!" Their friend, Sunscale, a pale golden SandWing with black flecks across her snout. "Sorry I wasn't here to greet you. Mom wanted me and Desert to help out with a couple more thing before we opened up."

"It's fine," Starfruit said as Sunny and her wife, Mirage,  started talking to Glory, Deathbringer, and Brightwings and Starcounter' parents, Starflight and Fatespeaker. "Where's Bumble and Moth?" Starcounter asked. Sunscale grinned. "Take a guess,"

"The art cave?" Sunset asked. Sunscale nodded. "They're having a weaving contest."

"Aw, man. I was hoping we'd be the first one in," Brightwings said. "Eh, whatever! Let's go in already!"

"Let me tell Mom and Dad bye real quick," Starfruit said, walking over to her parents. "I'll get Dad to go inside so I can check out 50 scrolls," Starcounter replied, following her.

"I'm gonna go inside with my friends," Starfruit informed her parents. "I'll go with her and watch her," Leafshade said. Starfruit gave him a death glare. "I'm not two! I can take care of myself! Go watch Firefly and her boyfriend!" She snapped. Leafshade grinned unbearably. "But I have to watch over my baby sister. It's been my job for 4 years." He replied. "Yeah, until I turned four and became RESPONSIBLE FOR MYSELF." Starfruit retorted, her purple scales turned frustrated orange and angry red. "Leafshade, she'd old enough to look after herself." Queen Glory said. "Especially with her huge pack of friends and if Starflight goes with her. It's not like anyone's even in the school except Blue and Cricket's children. But, Starfruit, please refrain from fighting with your brother while in school as often as you do at home."

"Okay," Starfruit said, smirking at Leafshade behind her mother's back. "Have fun," Deathbringer said, as he and Glory wrapped their wings around Starfruit.

"Bye, love you!" Starfruit called, catching up to her friends at the school's entrance. "Your brother seems annoying," Brightwings said as Starflight lead them through the halls. Starfruit snorted. "You're telling me."

"Good thing my brother's cool,"

"Lucky." Sunscale said. "I mean, Desert has his moments, but he can be totally insufferable sometimes."

"Hey, guys?" Starcounter said. "I'm going to the library with Dad."

"Okay," Brightwings and Starfruit said. "We'll meet you there."

Starflight handed them a map and then disappeared down the halls with Starcounter.

"Speaking of insufferable," Sunscale said to them as the walked down the hall. "Bumble and Moth have been impossibly smug since they got here."

"About what?" Rainbow asked. "You'll find out in about 15 seconds," Sunscale replied as they turned the corner into the art cave.

"Hi, Bumble! Hi, Moth!" Starfruit said cheerfully, striding into the room. Bumble and Moth were rapidly plucking at a loom with their claws. Bumble turned around with a grin. She had golden scale the color of her mother's, with tiny azure-violet inkblot-shaped patches, and large, gold and blue SilkWing wings and black antennae. Moth had her mother's pale green scales but with dark blue and orange wings, along with orange antennae  and a pattern of white triangles going down her neck. "Actually," Bumble said. "It's Princess Bumble and Princess Moth."

"Wait, what?" Starfruit gasped. "You guys are royalty?!?! How did that happen?!"

"A few weeks ago, the SilkWings had a vote to elect their queen, since it was kind of chaos with 200 SilkWings trying to lead the tribe. So they voted from those SilkWings and my mom won," Moth explained, sticking her snout in the air. "So my parents are now Queen Luna and King Swordtail of the SilkWings, and I am the heir to the SilkWing throne."

"Wow, that's so awesome!" Rainbow exclaimed.

"My parents get fancy titles too," Bumble said. "Queen Luna dubbed Dad Lord Blue and Queen Jewel dubbed Mom Lady Cricket."

"So cool," Brightwings said. "Also unfair. Now everyone is royalty but me! Starfruit is the daughter of Queen Glory, Sunscale is Queen Thorn's granddaughter, and Rainbow and Sunset are Queen Coral's granddaughters."

"Poor Brightwings," Rainbow joked. "Her father saved the world and runs a school, but she can't be a pretty in pink princess. Poor, poor Brightwings." Brightwings snorted and shoved Rainbow playfully.

"Anyway," Sunscale said. "Let's go to the library with Starcounter."

"One sec," Bumble said, plucking her loom several more times. Then she followed Starfruit and the others down the hall.
