I took this from my what if story and reimagined it to john and chris
The legendary Fleetwood Mac had just wrapped up recording their iconic "Rumours" album. As the tracks were meticulously mixed at the studio, the band members gathered to listen, ensuring every note met their impeccable standards. It was during these early days of mixing that a lighthearted moment turned into something much more intense.
Christine and Stevie, known for their close friendship, decided to have a contest during mixing. It was a playful nod to the lyrics from "Annie Get Your Gun," and they challenged each other to see who could sing the highest note. Laughter filled the studio as they pushed their vocal ranges to the limits.
Christine, known for her ethereal voice, reached for a note so high it seemed to touch the heavens. But as she hit that peak, something unexpected happened. Her voice cracked, leaving her with a raspy whisper. The laughter ceased, and a sense of sadness hung in the air.
Stevie, always supportive, rushed to Christine's side, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. "It's okay, Christine," she reassured. "You'll be fine. Just take it easy and don't strain your voice."
The following day, Mick brought food for everyone, a kind gesture to lift their spirits after the previous day's incident. However, fate had more challenges in store for Christine. Unbeknownst to her, her portion of the meal had been undercooked.
The next day, Christine fell ill once again, but this time, it was different. It wasn't another gastrointestinal infection like before. This time, it was food poisoning from the meal she had eaten. To make matters worse, it threatened the very instrument that had captivated audiences worldwide: her enchanting voice.
Christine paced the room, a habit she had when she didn't feel well, in an attempt to calm her stomach. John, always observant, asked if she was okay. Christine shook her head and admitted, "No, I feel sick to my stomach."
John, still sharing an apartment with Christine due to their enduring friendship, understood the importance of their bond. he nodded and said, "Alright, let's get you home so you can rest."
As they left the studio, Stevie confided in john. "John," she began softly, her voice filled with emotion, "I've never seen Christine like this before. She's always been the strong one, the rock. But now, she seems so fragile. I just want to help her, be there for her."
John, hisexpression mirroring Stevie's worry, placed a hand on her shoulder. He leaned in and whispered, "I feel the same way, Stevie. She's been through so much, and seeing her like this... it breaks my heart. But I trust that she's in good hands with you. You have a way of comforting her that no one else does."
Stevie nodded, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "We're more than just a band, john. We're a family. And seeing one of our own in pain, it's unbearable. I want her to know she's not alone, that we're here for her, no matter what."
John gave her a small, understanding smile. He replied, "She knows, Stevie. She may not say it, but she knows. And your care and compassion, it means the world to her. It means the world to all of us."
In that moment, the depth of their connection, not just as bandmates but as friends, became palpable. They shared a silent understanding, a mutual determination to support Christine through this challenging time.
John sat back, watching the extraordinary women as she went about the tasks of taking care of Christine. He couldn't help but smile as he recalled the warmth and love that permeated every moment of those trying days. The apartment, once filled with the sounds of music and laughter, was now filled with the soft hum of tea kettle and the comforting aroma of herbal tea.
