Chapter 20

The sun shined bright today. But even though it's bright, the wind was still sending a cold wind until it gives me a goose bump. I guessed it's almost the end of summer. I was sitting on the bench in the park while watching other people enjoying the sunny day. A warm coffee cup, that I bought at Reese's Coffee, placed in between my hands. Thought it would help me warm my body, and it did.

After yesterday's conversation with Megan, I came up with a plan. I hoped this plan works because it'll break Megan's heart if it doesn't. I texted Zach to come to meet me here, in the park, because I want to talk about something. I really hoped this works.

"Bethany" I heard his voice calling me from behind me.

I turned around and I was right, it is him. "Oh hey, Zach. Come, sit here" I tapped to beside me.

"Thanks" he sat.

I took a coffee from the other side that I also bought from Reese's. "Coffee?"

"Yeah, thanks" he took it.

"No problem" I smiled.

"So, why do you want to meet me?"

"I want to talk to you about something. Actually, it's about what happened between you and Meg at the party-"

He cut me before I could continue, "look, I don't want to talk about it anymore. What happened has happened, and there's no repeating to fix that"

"I know, but she was drunk, Zach. She didn't know what she's saying"

"Beth, drunk people usually attend to say what they're really feeling. They attend to tell the truth"

"But it was different for Megan. I know her and she doesn't mean anything she said"

"So you're saying that Megan is different?! That's what you're trying to say?!" he kept his statement very still. God! Why is it so hard to convince him in something that's true?"

"Yes! She's my best friend, Zach, and I know that for sure. Can't you trust me with this?"

He ran his hand through his hair, messing it up, while bending his back. "I don't know, Beth. You happened to hate my guts in the past. I don't trust you one hundred percent" he softened his voice.

"So you're saying that you don't believe that I loved you, still love you, and always love you?" suddenly Megan's voice appeared from behind us.

Zach and I immediately turned around and saw Megan's standing there with tears streaming down on her cheeks. I told Megan to hide behind the tree. So when the time is right, she can come out and explain everything. I guess it didn't go as the plan.

"Megan" I called. Zach didn't give any response, but only bowing his head down.

"Just forget about it Beth. I was wrong and I guess we wasted our time. I'm sorry for wasting your time, Zach. I'm going to leave you from now on" she spun around and walked in a fast pace.

"Zach, aren't you going to go after her?" I asked. He still didn't give me any response. "Wow, you're impossible"

That was the last thing I said before running, try to go after Megan.
