As soon as he presses the button, the heavy chains let go of my wrists. I drift towards the ground from where I had been floating midair and land softly on my feet. I look down at my wrists and the dark print left behind by the handcuffs. I rub over the stain once, annoyed with the smudge it gives. While flexing my fingers, I ready myself once more.

It really has been a long time, centuries since I have been locked up here, but it is my nature, so I have not forgotten.

My head slowly looks up at him. He released me. He looks uncertain of himself now, when only moments ago he, had released me with certainty.

My previous captors would never have released me, but then again, he seems younger than the others, so he must not know the reason I was sealed away here this long. His name is Auden. I do not care for him. Though I played my part of the damsel in distress very well. I do not care for staying locked up any longer just to spare one person.

His eyes study me curiously with a hint of fear, wondering what I'll do. My feet stay planted and I reach out to my power, which they have locked away all these years by the horrid chains. The familiar hum flows through my veins.

Auden is looking around him as if he expects people to rush in and punish him for pressing that button. He does not notice the dark storm clouds grouping together at the ceiling, even though it spreads a cyan-colored glow.

Nor does he see the change in me; my normally round pupils turn into thin lines, my short brown hair starts floating around my head and my skin glows a faint light blue hue. The light slightly shifts, just like the air.

Guillibly Auden still does not seem to detect anything wrong, but as his eyes meet mine, he freezes. Finally, noticing something is wrong, but it is already too late for him.

I lift my right hand in front of me and feel the power rush through the veins, demanding an outlet. I move my arm fast from left to right. He crumbles to the floor in a heartbeat, clutching his chest and couching up blood. I have always admired the bold color flowing through their bodies.

Normally, he would already have died. Instead, he will not die for a few short minutes. The fault of being locked up for so long.

I calmly walk up to him and look into his pained face.

He struggles to speak; ''Runa?... W-what did you do? Help... me... I helped... you. I-I set you free...''

I am unaffected by his display of pain and betrayal. He is a mere mortal, after all. I needed his help, and that is what he gave me.

I look into his eyes and smirk; ''You unleashed the storm, and she struck back.'' Horror and realization creeps into his eyes right before they go blank.

I step over his lifeless body to the exit. My power breaks the lock as it throws the door open. I look out into the fields as a grin touches my lips.

Time for them to remember not to mess with the gods.
