Chapter 7

1 month later

Dani and the little one are doing well, she's already a month old. We've been talking in the last few weeks about whether they don't just want to stay in their apartment and we'll just have it remodeled a little so that we have 2 rooms in the attic and another bath between doing "hi guys, dinner is ready" my wife calls through the house, I immediately get a grin on my face and the two children storm past me. "Mommy is all good" she asks and puts her hand on mine, Jen lifts it up and sits her between us "yes Mouse, I'm fine, come here" I say and pull her into a hug. She puts her arms around me and I stroke her back until I notice that she has fallen asleep. I lay her on the bed and we go out in front of the bedroom door, I take out my cell phone and go to his number and again just this one tap on the symbol "Honey, if you're not ready yet then we can wait," Jen says next to me and puts her arm around him I turn my head to her "no, I want to do that now and thank you for being here" I say and give her a quick kiss then I turn my attention back to my cell phone and press the receiver

D: it's okay Lis, I'm no different, nothing big, just work a little bit and just sit around at home

D: Lis, I'm sorry I didn't get in touch sooner

D: and how is your life going?

I: pretty good when I'm not at work I do something with Jen and...

I: Yep and happily married for 10 years, I didn't even know you knew how long we've been together

D: Well, for the things where your mother didn't belong, I did it

"Mommy" I hear Lola call "Jen can you go to her" I ask my wife who just nods and gives me a kiss on the forehead before she goes in

D: Lis, I just heard that right

I: what do you mean?

D: Lis please I want to be a part of your life you know you can tell me all

D: so answer me this one question do you have children

I: Dad, I know that's what you want to be, but understand that it takes time. We had no contact for 7-8 years

I: and .... Yes, I have children, well only one daughter at the moment but we are currently expecting another child

D: really happy little one and I'm sorry we haven't had contact for so long

"Lis come please" Call Jen from the sleeping room now so I open the door and go in and see that Lola is crying

I was just about to get up when a small hand grabs mine. I turn back to Lola and see that she is crying again so I decide to lie down next to her and calm her down. I will do that just until she falls asleep again, after I notice that she is sleeping again I reach for a book on the bedside table and read a little until I notice that she turns and puts an arm on my stomach, I put a hand on her back and pet her, we're still in the room the whole evening. I only notice that it's late when Jen comes in and lies down next to us. I lie down correctly again and turn so that I can see Lola. Jen puts her arm around me and comes closer to me "and here we go, the little one" she asks me whispers in my ear I just shrugged my shoulders Jen gives me another kiss on the forehead and then we fall asleep peacefully
