Violet
This was the day that would change everything. A new era, A new beginning. I, Princess Violet, was to be wed to Prince Rowan, heir to the vampire throne.
It is my duty to bring forth new alliances to our kingdom, but I can't help but feel betrayed. My father is sending me off to those who thrive off of the suffering of their own people. Fully aware of their disgraceful nature, I have been thrown into this position as it benefited him. My father is handing me off to those blood suckers.
Thanks dad.
The doors opened in front of me. A pit forming in my stomach.
As I made my way down the aisle towards our rival, all eyes were on me. Civilians, Lords, Ladies and allied rulers had gathered from all over the globe to witness our marriage. It was a huge deal. No human had ever married a vampire before. For obvious reasons, it is practically a death sentence!
I exchanged a worried glance to my Father. I don't want to be here and he knows it. I had protested every day coming up to this wedding. Many young girls dream of their wedding day, but this was no dream. This was a nightmare. This wasn't for love, I don't love him. I don't even like him! This arrangement is purely political.
Rowans best man, his brother Ivan, stood off to the side of him dressed in a navy blue suit which complimented his icy blue eyes. Ivans eyes were glued to me as soon as I entered the room, his eyes trailed down my dress, eating away at my confidence. It makes me uneasy with how little power I have against these demons. As I reached my soon to be husband my hands began to shake, revealing my anxiety.
A tear ran down my cheek. I looked up at my Fiance, his vibrant green eyes piercing through me, though I despise him and this arrangement, I cannot deny that he is attractive. Strands of his dark brown hair fell over his pale face, complimenting his gorgeous eyes and striking features. I awkwardly smile, trying to be polite on our first meeting but my efforts were in vain. Rowan averted his gaze from me, focusing instead on the pastor. Great.
While reciting our vows we took each other's hands, his grip was firm and cold. Nothing like what I had hoped for.
"I do."
"And do you Violet Eden, take Rowan Ravenwood to be your lawfully wedded husband? "
Everyone turned to me. The air suddenly grew thick, constricting my lungs.
"I-.." Oh this isn't happening. Panic surging within me. This couldn't be real. I closed my eyes, shutting everyone out. Why me?
Letting out a breath I whispered, "I do."
"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
The atmosphere softened. I looked up at my new husband, his emerald eyes filled with disgust and disapproval. God, I feel so small.
His icy hand brushed my cheek, while his other snaked around my waist, pulling me into his lips. His fangs brushed over my bottom lip, igniting butterflies in my stomach. Returning his kiss, I wrap my arms around his neck, embracing his cold lips.
Our kiss lingered a lot longer than I had anticipated. Rowan abruptly pulled away. Maybe it was longer than he was expecting as well.
I held onto Rowan's arm as we exited back down the aisle. Our marriage began to dawn on me. It's done. I belong to him. I could be killed by my own husband! I kept a smile for the crowd, hiding my now heightened anxiety as I realised my fate. How could my father have done this to me? Im supposed to be his fucking child.
