Lila and I were currently at Highpoint, we were making our way out when we ran into Gemma. (in chapter one I explained who she is; their brother Jake's fiancée and Lila's ex bsf)

"Hey guys!" Gemma hugged me and Lila walked off and brushed past Gemma. "Sorry about her." I awkwardly scratched my neck. "Don't worry about it." Gemma sighed. 'Hurry up' was what Lila had messaged me. Oh my god. "Is that Lila messaging?" Gemma looked a bit sad. "Umm, nah. It's Nessa. We had to go buy her this dress and she wants to wear it to dinner with her friends." I lied. "Oh, ok then. Well I'll let you go! Hopefully we catch up soon." Gemma hugged me. "It was lovely seeing you!" I waved and walked off.

"Fucking hell, why's she acting so innocent!" Lila exclaimed once we got in the car. "Lila-" "I don't wanna hear it, Hailey." She interrupted me. "I'm just trying to help, you mood killer." I scoffed. "Sorry. I'm just— I don't know." She shook her head. "Anyways, how's things with you and Archie?" She changed the subject. "Uhh, yeah it's good. I was messaging him not long ago." I smiled.

"Someone has feelings for her ex." Lila whistled. "Oh my god, shut up." I playfully slapped her arm. "I'm driving! Oh my god you didn't deny it!!" She laughed. "I'm not even gonna respond." I unlocked my phone. "So you can text Archie." She chuckled.

I rolled my eyes and saw Archie's name called up. "Answer it." Lila smirked.

"Hey, Hailey," his voice came through, warm and familiar.

"Hi, Archie," I replied, trying to keep my tone casual despite the butterflies in my stomach.

"I was thinking," he began, "how about we go out for dinner on Friday night? There's this new Italian place that just opened up downtown. I thought it could be nice."

"That sounds great," I said, trying to contain my excitement. "Friday works for me."

"Awesome," he said, sounding pleased. "I'll pick you up around 7?"

"Perfect," I agreed, feeling a surge of anticipation. "I'll see you then."

"Looking forward to it," he said before we said our goodbyes and ended the call.

I turned to Lila, practically bouncing with excitement. "It's happening! Friday night, dinner with Archie."
