I see you every day.
Your words,
Like fire,
Spread across the prairie.
Your thoughts unending,
Filled to the brim with peace,
Your ease and calmness,
A sight to behold.
Twisting and turning,
Through life,
Your poise and maturity,
Taught me,
More than you'll ever know.
Since birth,
You were my star,
A being following in my footsteps,
A twilight breeze,
Amongst a world filled,
With tainted hearts,
And yet,
In you,
I have a life companion.
One in which to confide,
To share struggles,
To conquer seas beyond seas,
In order to find our purpose
In Gods way.
You make me wish,
I was better.
Days go by,
As our roots stretched,
Amongst the dirt,
That saw us birthed,
We were,
Etched in stone.
Born with the purpose,
To carry gods love,
Onto this world,
Pure and unadulterated,
Directly from our mother's womb.
The more time goes by,
The more I understand,
Of your importance.
Your undeniable teachings,
In my life,
Your example,
Even if younger,
Your enviable peace,
Within life's storms
And turmoil,
Your way of laughing,
Though pain and hardship.
You are,
The embodiment,
Of something,
I could never hope to amount to.
You and I,
Have been through it all.
We indeed are healthy and strong.
But even as beautiful as life is,
Within its beauty
It carries,
The true bitterness of reality.
We are amazing imperfections.
Gorgeous works of art,
With a clear expiration date.
The knowledge,
That one day,
We may cease,
Make these moments,
All the more real,
All the more intense,
Palpable,
Bittersweet to the taste,
In the most endearing way.
As life would have it,
You and I are no different,
Then the latter.
You heart beats
With everlasting vigor.
Sometimes erratic,
Sometimes inconsistently.
I know you are strong.
More than I could ever be.
I know your heart,
Is doing God's work,
And with it,
You do his bidding.
But it scares the living shit out of me.
To hear you have tightness in your chest.
To see doctors beyond doctors,
Test you,
Unable to see anything wrong.
I don't want you to go,
Not before me,
Ever,
Stay,
Stay,
Please,
You are way better than me at this life shit.
Way better than I could ever be.
I love the moments.
I spend with you.
I've seen you grow,
Your talents,
Your smartness
A blinding light in the night.
My partner in life,
A mothers gift,
My twin,
My biggest rival,
The one I wish to grow with,
Who teaches me and pushes me,
My lifeline.
I plead to you,
No, I plead to your heart.
Stay here,
With me forever,
Or at least,
Until I say goodbye first.
You deserve much more,
Than I could ever deserve.
I you need so,
If I could tomorrow,
My heart would be yours.
I pray every night,
That whatever tightens your chest
Disappears.
Whatever pains you,
Withers away.
So that you may finally,
Enjoy this life.
Until the end of your days.
Along my side,
Our family,
And friends.
Here's to many more years,
Growing up together.
And many days
Of joy and peace.
Keep beating strong.
I love you.

PoetryThe purpose of this poetry book is one of defiance. Not to others, or anything in particular. It is against the war we wage internally, against ourselves every day. There is no bigger challenge in life than facing your thoughts, your true emotions...
