Ch.14: Jail

(The two days passed now it time for the hearing Friday 8:00am, Eric got me a lawyer yesterday, now I'm getting ready to go to the court house)

"Are you ready" Sam asked.

"Yea, as ready as I'll ever be" I said.

(We left the house and got in his car and drove off)

"Is Liz and Eric coming" I asked.

"Of course they wouldn't miss it" Sam said.

(I nodded; I looked out the window getting wrapped in my thoughts and what to say)

"Alice" Sam said.

(My thoughts was cut off; I look at Sam)

"We're here" Sam said.

(I nodded and took in deep breathes; we got out the car and walked up the court house steps, I was bombarded by press asking all kinds of questions. Sam put his arm around me)

"Ms. Miller will not be answering any questions" Sam said.

(He managed to get them to back off; we went inside, I went in. I saw Seth and for the first time I can say I really couldn't recognize the man before me; he had stubble, was in an orange jump suit, and his eyes had something dark behind them. He wickedly smiled at me, I looked away; I sat on the left side, they called me to the stand. I answered questions I told the whole truth)

"Ms. Miller did Mr. Mayer ever physically abuse you" The lawyer asked.

"No sir, well once he squeezed my wrist and left a nasty bruise that's it" I said.

(He came close to me and I showed him the faint bruise on my wrist)

"Did he ever verbally abuse you" The layer asked.

"No sir" I said.

(He kept asking question after question somewhere a little personal; then it was my sister turn to answer questions, she told him about the dark room. Soon it was time for us to take a reassess; we waited in the hall)

"Do you think they'll find him guilty" I asked.

"I don't know" Liz said.

(I turned to Eric)

"If they call you to the stand will you go" I asked.

"Of course why would you ask that" Eric said.

"Because he's your brother" I said.

"Yeah that maybe so but what he did to you was wrong Alice you have to know that" Eric said.

(I just nodded and gave him a small smile; we has to go back in, they called Eric to the stand. He told them about Bonnie and how this might not been the first time he has mistreat a girl; soon it was time for them to decide if he was going to jail)

"All rise" The bailiff said.

(All stood and the judge came back in)

"We didn't have other proof of the physical abuse so he won't be charged for assault but Mr. Mayer will go to jail for kidnapping the sentence is 20 years no bail, case dismissed" Judge said.

"No you can't do this, I love her" Seth yelled.

(A commotion broke out; Seth tried to come at me but the guards took him away just in time, Sam grabbed my hand and we went out the court room, I felt happy but a little guilt still because I really did love Seth despite the monster he was)

"Are you ok" Sam asked.

"I will be" I said.

"So what do you say we all go out" Sam asked.

(Liz and Eric looked at each other)

"I think we need alone time but another night" Eric said.

(Sam nodded; we all walked out and got in our cars)

"So do you feel like going out" Sam asked.

"Yea why not but no drinking" I said.

"Ok, so what would you like to do" Sam asked.

"Go to a carnival" I said.

"Sure" Sam said.

(We didn't bother changing; we went to a carnival by the beach, we soon was there. We got out of the car and got our tickets; we rode a ride call the Mr. Freeze, then we went to The Batman, we went to a couple of booths. Sam won a white wolf for me; I looked at the Farris wheel I really want to ride it but I think that might be a bad idea)

"Want to get on" Sam asked.

"I'm not so sure that's a good idea" I said.

"Are you afraid of heights" Sam asked.

"No it's just, ok this is totally stupid and cliché but you know what happens on Farris wheels it stops at the top and the girl gets kissed by her boyfriend and sparks fly, I'm not ready for that so I just" I trailed off.

"Hey, we can ride and if you don't want to kiss me you don't have to we're friends right so it won't be awkward anyway" Sam said.

(I nodded, we got on the Farris wheel; it started to go around)

"See, nothing to worry about" Sam said. (Smiling)

(I smiled "Feeling the need to kiss you is something to worry about" I thought)

"You want to kiss me" Sam asked.

(It sounded more like a statement)

"I said that out loud" I said.

(I groaned and covered my face; Sam chuckled and pulled my hands down, I looked at him)

"I just didn't want things to move too fast or ruin our friendship or-" I was cut off.

(Sam kissed me; it took me a few moments to kiss him back because I was partly shocked, I put my hands on his neck. It did feel like a bolt of electricity was spread throughout my whole body nothing I ever felt with Seth. Soon we broke a part panting)

"You're cute when you're rambling" Sam said. (Smiling)

(I blushed and smiled)

"And you don't have to worry about our friendship being ruined or going too fast, we can go as slow as you want I just had to kiss you, I've been wanting to do that since the day I met you" Sam said.

(I smiled)

"Thank you for everything" I said.

"No problem" Sam said.

(The Farris wheel stopped and we got off; we headed back home, we got in the car)

"I had a fun time" I said.

"Good, I did too" Sam said.

(We fell into a comfortable silence on the ride back home; we got back to the house, I moved all I had in the guess room yesterday. We both went to our rooms; I got changed into a long shirt with pajama shorts, I went to Sam's room and knocked on the door)

"Come in" Sam said.

(I did, he was shirtless "I'll never get use to that" I thought; I walked in)

"Can I um sleep with you tonight, I promise this will be the last night" I said. (Softly)

(Sam chuckled)

"Its fine, if it makes you comfortable you can sleep in here as long as you want" Sam said.

"Thank you" I said.

(I went to the bed and laid down; Sam turned out the lights and laid next to me, He put his arm around my waist and I laid my head on his chest. It only took a few moments until I was in a sleepy bliss)
