"What are we doing here?" Elijah questioned as Luna guided him into some abandoned building.
She spun around to look at him, smiling softly. "This was my sister's salon! They never tore it down after she died, so it's basically abandoned."
He hummed in response, glancing around as Luna rushed over to the closet on the right, and she caught a broom as well as a cylinder of cleaning wipes.
She then made her way over to a chair, quickly brushing dust and scattered crumbs away from the seat, and he watched as she wiped off the chair, mirror, and counter.
She then stepped away, tossing all cleaning supplies away as she gazed up at him, waiting.
He smiled a little. "What?"
"Chair," she said, nodding to it, "sit."
He chuckled then and stepped over to it, settling down on the salon chair.
She pulled open a drawer and caught one of those black cloaks, draping it over Elijah as she clipped it behind his neck.
She then cracked her fingers, giggling. "Let's get started!"
Almost hours later, Luna finished cutting little bits of his hair, and she smiled, waving her hands happily. "Yay!"
He blinked. Oh, God... what did she do to me?
Luna just spun the chair around, and Elijah hesitantly looked at himself in the mirror.
His jaw dropped.
His hair was a now a light blonde—golden, almost—and there were slight roots coming from his scalp. The cut was somewhat short, lightly buzzed in one section, but combed over the top of his head. It was like his original haircut but... perfection.
She bleached his hair, and then... dyed it this color? How the hell did she get this color? It was golden, a light gold. He'd never seen this on someone's hair before.
"My big sis made dyes, too," she told him, making him gaze up hazily. "This one was always my favorite, but no one ever wanted it. We made it together by mixing yellow and a touch of brown, gold, silver, and white."
He just stared at her, eyes almost bugging out.
Her excitement faltered at this, and her eyes glossed over with sadness. "You don't... like it?"
"No," he said then, making her drop her head, "I love it."
She gazed up quickly then.
He watched her. "You learned all this in high school?"
She nodded, smiling now. "Yeah! Not just from the tech school, but from my big sis, too."
He chuckled. "I don't need a barber now, I have you."
Her cheeks shaded over with a light pink, and she looked away shyly.
Elijah just smiled. "Anything else you want to do?"
She gazed up then, the embarrassment dissipating as she thought it over.
She then gasped. "Your nails!"
And she ran off.
"Wait!" Elijah said as she opened another closet. "I didn't agree to this!"
She just waved off his response and rushed back toward him, dropping to her knees.
He watched as she shook a midnight-blue nail polish, catching his hand.
"Luna... I don't...." He trailed off when she gazed up at him curiously.
Goddamn it... he couldn't say no to her.
"Just, not to girly, okay?" he said to her.
She smiled and nodded, glancing down at his hand as she opened the bottle.
He watched as she carefully and gracefully slid the midnight polish onto his nails, continuing down both of his hands.
After waving off his hands and adding two more coats.
She then pulled out another bottle of nail polish, but this one had a very small tip.
"What's that?" Elijah said.
"You'll see," was her response.
And he watched as she lightly squeezed the bottle, slowly curving the white polish into a half-circle.
She then pulled away and moved onto his next finger.
Wait... was that a crescent moon?
He kept watching her as she drew a moon on every nail, and she quickly waved off his hands.
While they dried, she put everything back in a little container she had and pulled out one last one.
She then pulled out the brush, and lightly glossed over her work with a clear polish.
She finished after a minute, and waved off his hands.
Elijah kept his hands in his lap as she packed all the polish back in the box and rushed over to the closet, stuffing them in.
"Why do you have nail polish at a hair salon?" Elijah asked then.
She gazed up. "Oh! We didn't do nails. Whenever I was on breaks when I worked here, I loved to paint my nails."
He then nodded, and she walked over to him. "Are they dry?" she asked him.
"I don't know," he said then. "I'm afraid to touch them."
She just giggled and lightly touched his thumb.
She pulled away then. "Almost. Just wait here for a couple minutes."
And she started putting all the supplies for his hair away despite this place being abandoned.
"So..." he said then, "what are we doing after this?"
She shrugged while cleaning off the scissors. "I don't know. Whatever you want. We can go back to the forest, we can get lunch, whatever Lijah wants."
He just smiled. "You hungry?"
She sputtered her lips. "I'm always hungry. I vampire."
He stood then, waving off his hands as she finished stuffing her supplies back into the drawers. "Let's go rob a butcher."
She gazed up then, blinking. "Huh?"
"Food for me," he pointed to himself, "and blood for you." He pointed to her.
She blinked. "Doesn't Lijah have a lot of money?"
He shrugged. "Yeah, but paying is for losers. What's the fun in that?"
Luna smiled then. "Okay."
He caught her hand, and pulled her out from the salon.
