Here, only the plot of this fanfiction and my four OCs, Huang Minghui / Lan Minghui, Lan Biyun, Li Xingsi / Wei Xingsi, and Bai Yilian / Nie Yilian, are my creations. And an important reminder that this ISN'T REAL; please value your lives and do not try to get hit by a car to get this sort of adventure.

Three years later

"WEI XINGSI!" Madam Yu roared.

Nine-year-old Wei Xingsi flinched slightly. Madam Yu's actress had done a great job acting as the terrifyingly imposing sect lady of the Yunmeng Jiang Clan, but nothing could've prepared her for how scary she was in real life. Storming towards her, Madam Yu swung Zidian at Wei Xingsi, causing her to yell in pain and shock, nearly faceplanting into the ground.

"WHAT THE HELL WAS YOUR POSTURE?! IF YOU'RE GOING TO WIELD YOUR SWORD LIKE THAT, HOW LONG ARE YOU GOING TO LAST ON THE BATTLEFIELD?!" Madam Yu screeched, whipping the young disciple with Zidian as she reprimanded her.

"Madam Yu, I'm sorry!" Wei Xingsi cried, trying not to let her tears of pain show.

"APOLOGIZE TO YOUR FUTURE SELF, NOT TO ME! WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO IN A REAL BATTLE IF YOU CONTINUE TO TRAIN LIKE THIS?!"

Jiang Fengmian, who had just entered the training grounds, sighed in disappointment. "San-niang, enough! A-Si won't be able to train at all if you keep beating her like this."

Madam Yu retracted Zidian and strode away. "You'd prefer those children of a servant over your own any day, wouldn't you?" she snapped.

Angry, ashamed, sad, and in pain, Wei Xingsi lowered her head in disappointment. The non-spiritual sword that she'd been practicing with dropped to the ground, and she walked out of the training grounds. Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng quickly ran after her.

"Jie! Wait!" Wei Wuxian called.

"A-Ying, just go away," Wei Xingsi grumbled. "Jiang Cheng, you too."

"NO!" Both boys objected loudly.

Wei Xingsi groaned internally. "If you two are planning to mess around, do it without me. I'm. Not. In. The. Mood."

"Who said we were going to do that?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"We just want to comfort you," Wei Wuxian added. "Don't let Madam Yu beat you down. Whatever she says, you're still the best sister we could ever have, along with Shijie!"

Oh, A-Ying... "Some sweet words you've got," Wei Xingsi grumbled. "I'm just not good with my sword, and because of that (and because of my parentage), Madam Yu takes every chance to step on me."

Jiang Cheng sighed. "Relatable. Even though I train and try extremely hard, A-Niang is just never satisfied..."

"I know!!"

Wei Wuxian glared at his shidi and his twin sister. "Jiang Cheng! Didn't we say that we were going to comfort her? Stop moping!"

Wei Xingsi frowned. "A-Ying! We're not blind-" (Here, she only just managed to stop herself from saying 'Like Xiao Xingchen') "enough to notice that you're having problems with Madam Yu, too."

All three of them flopped down on the grass near the dock. It was late afternoon, and the golden sunlight danced on the rippling waves of the lake, making it look as though someone had thrown the stars into the water.

*Sigh* Just our problems with Madam Yu...

"You know, Jiang Cheng, even if Madam Yu acts like she thinks you're not good enough, she's still your mother and cares about you," Wei Xingsi said. "And even if she doesn't think that you're enough, I do! A-Ying and Shijie do, too!" And Biyun, when you get to meet her, she sniggered internally. Lan Biyun had a pretty obvious crush on Jiang Cheng back in their past lives, and Wei Xingsi was pretty sure that that hadn't changed.

Jiang Cheng looked away. Wei Xingsi could tell that he was hiding a smile.

"A-Ying, does it hurt when she calls you 'son of a servant'?" she asked.

Wei Wuxian was quiet for a moment before answering, "Yes."

"She can call you whatever she wants, but remember that that doesn't define who you are. You're Wei Ying, Wei Wuxian, our brother, a proud disciple of the Yunmeng Jiang Clan, someone that we care about!"

"If you're going to help us with our problems, then your problems also need to be dealt with," Wei Wuxian quipped. "Let's try those moves that we learned today."

As Wei Xingsi practiced, Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng corrected what she was doing wrong and gave her tips to help her improve. A little while later, Jiang Yanli came to call them inside for dinner. "Shijie!" Wei Xingsi shouted, sprinting up to the older girl and jumping into her open arms. Jiang Yanli and Wei Wuxian laughed at her childish behavior, while Jiang Cheng just rolled his eyes. Wei Xingsi grinned inwardly. Though she'd technically lived for fifteen years (twelve in her past life; three in this life), Wei Xingsi rarely acted her age. In this life, she would definitely mess around and play while she still could, because later, she would be busy preventing deaths.

"Jie, do you want to spar with me?" Wei Wuxian asked hopefully.

Wei Xingsi agreed, and her shijie and shidi watched the fight avidly. In the end, they decided to declare their duel a draw and hurried inside for dinner. Smiling, Jiang Yanli gave all three of her siblings her famous lotus pork rib soup, making sure to add more portions of meat.

"A-Xian, A-Si, A-Cheng, you three have worked hard today," Jiang Yanli commented. "Make sure to eat plenty today!"

As the four of them ate, Wei Xingsi asked Jiang Yanli the question she'd always had in her mind about the older girl since she watched The Untamed. "Shijie, how come you don't cultivate?"

Seeming to be a little taken aback by the unexpected inquiry, Jiang Yanli blinked a few times before answering, "I... I've just never had much interest in cultivation."

Oh.

***************

That night, as Wei Xingsi sat on her bed, playing xiao, someone knocked to enter.

It was Jiang Fengmian. "A-Si, I think you're ready for your first spiritual weapon," he announced. He handed Wei Xingsi a xiao with a beautiful mottled pattern in shades of violet, black, and white. There was a teal tassel with a lilac lotus flower hanging from the end.

Hands shaking and holding her breath in excitement, Wei Xingsi received the xiao. "Jiang-shushu... Thank you..."

"What are you going to name it?"

Feeling the pulse of the xiao's spiritual energy, Wei Xingsi considered options for names. This is my new, beautiful life... What symbolizes a new beginning...? "I'll name this... Xinshuang."

(A/N): If you don't remember what Xinshuang means, go back to chapter 1.
