(Alisha's pov)
"What the hell? Did he just tell me to change my favorite lehenga?" Alisha seethed inwardly. "Who does he think he is? I don't trust him one bit, but I need to change immediately. I can't risk him hurting my family."
Quickly, she switched into another dress she had brought for the engagement and headed towards the bride's room.
Salaar's POV
I instructed Alisha to change her clothes before heading to the venue. There, I noticed my cousin brothers standing close to the stage. As I approached, Samar and Umar shot me teasing looks. Ignoring them, I joined in the conversation.
Suddenly, I spotted Alisha entering the hall. She looked ethereal, and I found myself lost in her light brown eyes as she caught me staring. A blush crept onto her cheeks.
Author's POV
Alisha approached them, but Salaar was too captivated by her presence to notice. It was only when his brothers erupted into laughter that he snapped out of his trance.
Alisha: "Hey everyone."
She addressed his brothers, pointedly ignoring Salaar.
Alisha: "I think I've seen you around."
Glancing at Ahmed, she added, "I saw you inside, in the lobby."
"Sure," Ahmed replied nonchalantly. "Before that, could you show me your middle finger?"
Confused, Ahmed extended his middle finger, revealing a tattoo. Alisha burst into tears. Everyone was baffled by her sudden emotional outburst until she linked her middle finger with Ahmed's, revealing an identical tattoo. This sight moved Ahmed to tears as well.
The Tattoo
The brothers were taken aback seeing the typically stoic Ahmed cry. Since returning from Mumbai to Jaipur, Ahmed had become distant and aloof.
As Alisha cried, Salaar grew tense. He was shocked to witness Ahmed's vulnerability, as he had never seen his brother cry since their return from Mumbai.
After Alisha broke the embrace, she noticed the brothers watching them. Taking Ahmed's wrist, she led him to a deserted hallway to avoid causing a scene at her best friend's engagement. Salaar and his brothers discreetly followed.
In the hallway, Alisha released Ahmed's wrist and slapped him across the cheek.
Alisha: "Where were you? I missed you so much. How could you leave without telling me anything?"
Ahmed: "I'm sorry, Alisha."
Alisha: "Do you even know how upset I was when I found out from someone else that you had blocked me on social media?"
Shameer intervened: "Stop, Alisha! Who is he to you? Why did you slap him?"
Alisha: "Bhai, meet Ahmed, my ex-best friend."
The revelation stunned everyone except Ahmed and Alisha.
Upon hearing this, Shameer didn't wait for Ahmed's explanation. He punched Ahmed in the face.
Shameer: "Do you even realize Alisha fell into depression after you left?"
Ahmed: "I'm sorry, Alisha. I had my reasons for leaving. I promise I'll explain when the time is right."
Shaveer intervened loudly: "Enough! Ahmed, whatever happened in the past is done. But if you enter her life again, she shouldn't have to go through that heartbreak again."
With that, Alisha, Shameer, and Shaveer left the hallway, leaving Ahmed standing alone, holding his cheek in shock.
