I groaned and rolled over, attempting to go back to sleep after a loud noise pulled me from my slumber. Suddenly, I remembered that it had been my cell phone ringing it's default tune. I begrudgingly rolled out of bed and grabbed my phone. "Who would be calling this early?" I muttered to myself, before seeing through the burning light of my cell phone's screen showing the headmaster's name.
"Hello, Harro?" Sleep was still evident in my voice.
"Good morning Esmay," he said, far too cheerful for three a.m. "I just returned from my trip, and I wanted to give you something I think will help you."
I frowned in confusion before remembering what he was talking about - A forged history to keep Mors from snooping into my past too much.
"Ah," I replied, relieved that he hadn't forgotten my request. "That would be great, thank you."
"No problem. I've sent it to your quarters so you can look over it. Just make sure to be careful - we don't want Mors getting suspicious!"
I laughed at his words before agreeing to do so and thanked him for his help once again before hanging up the phone. Guess it was going to be an early morning.
I found the documents on my desk in my office. I didn't stick into reading them until I had downed a shot of espresso. The documents mostly summarised all that was 'found' about me. I was born on Durilia Island to two human plus individuals (humans with abnormal traits) and lived in a small house in the secluded part of Royse Ridge area. I had a younger sister who was unnamed. Attached was a birth certificate dating 11/05/1988.
There were no photos supplied, a letdown if you asked me. The cost and time wouldn't be worth the effort to make this passable. If I was a human student here, they would want to keep it under wraps in case the local monsters found out.
It would have been funny to see them alter an image of Harro's graduation, so I was in it or even when I passed over my job. Then I would get to see a coloured photo of them for the first time, instead of the painted-over copies we got done years later when the darkroom was renovated.
I spotted a report paper listing the classes I took: English, Maths, Technology, Dead Languages, Art, Monster History and Human Studies. It listed all the external teachers hired. Underneath, there was an old school report, tucked underneath, written by Harro, dated 21/07/2001.
This report is about a student who is receiving private tutoring due to the unsafe environment of our school for humans. The student in question, Esmay Ambrose is very kind and friendly, possessing the ability to naturally and fluently speak a variety of languages, something which appears to run in their family, as it was noted that former teacher Edith Ambrose, school founder Edith Sharp and Leigh Sharp also possessed this ability.
She has been an excellent learner in her private tutoring sessions, demonstrating intelligence and commitment to her studies. She has been eager to learn new concepts and quick to apply what she's learnt. In addition, this student has also shown great progress in adapting to the different expectations that come with one-on-one tutoring versus being part of a larger class. We believe this student will continue to make progress in her studies and demonstrate her commitment towards learning.
All the documents had the correct indicators of them being official, Harro would have ensured that to be the case himself, but if this were real, wouldn't Mayor know? If the skeleton interrogated her on why it wasn't mentioned, it would raise more questions as to why Harro kept this all a secret.
It was within his character to do so. He had been keeping his contact with me undisclosed for years. We were just lying about why.
The room was stuffy. A walk was well-earned and would hopefully wake me up before my morning classes. The expresso only worked so long before I needed more caffeine. That could wait until breakfast time. That's how I found my way outside.
