Chapter 3. What's going on..?

BAM!💥
"Jay!! Are you o- oh. Well get ready for breakfast.." Jay fell off his bed while trying to get up. Nya had checked on him thinking it was an attack from the enemy side, just to get proven wrong. Sighing, Nya walked back into the kitchen to listen to Zane explaining the battle strategies against Garmadon's first wave of soldiers.
".. so using cannons, we can get a higher ground..- oh! Nya how nice of you to join us, have you told Jay there is breakfast?"
Nya nodded her head and whispered something to Zane before heading to the table. Lloyd quickly stood up and asked what type of weapons are going to be used against the troops. Zane replied they were going to see after breakfast, so the team chowed down the food.
After breakfast, the team went to the giant room of where they kept their weapons and equipment. There Lloyd, Cole, and Jay was surprised to see all the different types of equipment and gear. Cole eyes shined brightly seeing a scythe, picking it up and examining. Jay and Lloyd was looking at a pair of nunchucks but Lloyd got bored and went to look for another weapon. Nya was proud of Zane's and hers work on the weapons.
"You guys just wait! We have more to show you." Nya led the team to a room filled with mechanics and machines. There were cars, androids and other gadgets.
"Nya you built this in two days?!!!" Jay and Cole was astonished further while Lloyd ran all around the room looking at the different parts and machinery.
Zane then picked up a suspicious looking glowing gem and let everyone examine it.
"This is the true weapon against Garmadon.. if we were to lose it, it wouldn't only affect us but when fallen to the wrong hand, it can cause us bigger problems beforehand."
Lloyd curiously tapped it and asked what it did.
"It enhances our stamina and powers until it is as strong as Kai's technique and strategies..but.. it still needs more tweaking so don't treat it so carelessly.. thank you."
Nya chuckled with how guilty Lloyd's face was when apologizing.
"As strong as Kai? As if.."
Nya snapped out of her thoughts when her name was called because Jay was stuck under an automobile. She ran over to check him out making sure he wasnt injured.
"Hey Zane, when do we know when we're are supposed to fight Garmadon."
Zane hesitated, then replied with a confusing answer..
"Well I don't know for sure but time will tell. Atleast that's what Master Wu keeps saying."
"HEY!! You guys, come over here and help set up the cannons!! We don't know for sure if they are going to attack us when we are sleeping.. and Lloyd watch out, don't trigger the trap- aw crap you already did."
Nya was sighing with exhaustion and exasperation while Jay was helping Lloyd up.
"They look like they are enjoying themselves aren't they?.. Zane?" Cole looked at Zane because of the sudden quiet reaction from him. Zane was smiling and then started chuckle. The chuckling turned into quiet laughter.
"If this keeps up, we might have the better chance. Yesterday the team seemed so separated from Kai's death and "spotting" I guess with our team working together we can get through anything.."
"That.. that was inspirational."
Cole and Zane started to speak of another plan when Pixal burst through the door.
"YOU GUYS!! I'm glad you guys are looking through the supplies right now but, we may have- I mean I, may have gotten us into a little bit of a problem." Pixal looks distraught and guilty while she tried to explain that she was just trying to help a group of kittens when they turned into buff kittens when she tried feeding them. After she passed out and the buff kitties were destroying the city.
"Pixal..- Pixal PIXAL!! Did you eat or consumed anything?"
"Uhh maybe that mushroom I found in the forest after reading it would be just like coffee.."
"Ah jeez, you guys keep looking around and find the weapons to your liking. I need to restart Pixal and make sure no "buff kitties" are destroying the world."
Zane dragged Pixal out of the room while she was yapping.
"LETS FIND THE BEST WEAPON AND THEN GO AGAINST EACH OTHER!!"
"LETS GOOO"
"You guys act like kids.."
"Wait Cole, I think I agree with them."
"Not you too Nya."
5:20 a.m.
The alarm of an attack was going off and it has woken Nya up.
"Nya!! Wake up, we're under attack!!" Jay yelled as cannons started to launch. The sound of the gunfire and explosions was enough to wake the whole city. Zane was already passing out the chosen weapons that were to participate in the first battle against Garmadons army. Nya quickly put on her armor and taking her sharpened spear. Leaping down the stairs and into the battle arena, dozens of dark soldiers were marching and firing their own machinery. There were some that had bow and arrows shooting down from some flying machines. Cole and Lloyd was already taking down the worst of the enemies while Jay was stuffing gunpowder into the cannons to aim towards the flying soldiers. The battle has barely even started and the supplies were running low, meaning that they had to rely on their skill and mastery on their elements they had practiced since the last major event. Nya spun her spear and stabbed the nearest target, leaping into the air, started to hit the most dangerous soldiers.
"There's too many enemy soldiers!! We might have to retreat..!" Lloyd was barely holding against a soldier two times his height and weight. Only succeeding when Cole stepped in and slash the opponent with his scythe. Lloyd nodded in thanks and went to the nearest target.
"Not if we let it happen we won't have to retreat to anywhere!"
Clouds started to roll in the area and lightning was heard in the distance as Jay started to summon thunderstorms into the area. Making the dark soldiers vulnerable to the storm, they were electrocuted and killed by the storm. Sharp rocks were formed from the ground stabbing the hearts of the victims that was not part of the ninjas team. Nya gritted her teeth as she pushed over an enemy soldier and grabbed the nearest water filled supply they had. Tearing it open, water spattered out from the bottle and had frozen in the air. Nya clapped her hands together and it became a flood sweeping at least 20 soldiers. Drowning themselves, the dark soldiers started to panic and then began to flee. Some other soldiers started to yell at their fleeing companions but disappeared into a burst of dust when killed. As if the tables had turned, only one last boss stood in the way. The ground started to rumble and shake as the last boss slowing walk towards them. The creature thing has a mace and started to swing, nearly hitting Jay and smashed the cannons into tiny little pieces.
"What the hell is going on?!!" The ninjas began to panic but Zane had a plan. Zane shouted at Nya something inaudible but Nya seemed to understand. Once again taking a water filled bottle, made a larger bubble of water and poured it all over the large creature. The boss thing cried out in anger and began to run towards Nya. There was a sudden crackling sound and the giant was frozen. Ice formed on the giant stopping it from doing anything.
Nya finally understood the situation.
"If we can just keep it frozen and smash it to bits with Cole's earth element, we can destroy this monster!"
"Cole-!"
Nya eyes widened as she stopped shouting. Cole, bleeding, was on the floor, Pixal was trying to stop the wound. The remaining dark soldiers had ambushed Cole while he was distracted trying to get to the monster to destroy it. Lloyd was standing by him and killing as many remaining soldiers but with an injured ninja, there can be atleast 10 dozen soldiers still left, not counting the giant still frozen. As if things couldn't get more worse , more soldiers marched into the battle place, surround them, Zane and Jay backed up into Nya.
"Was all this effort for nothing..?"
Panic was rising among the ninjas as their supplies were low and an injured ninja. Everyone was in shock as their plan had backfired, as if Garmadon had predicted this and found a counterattacks. The ice formed in the giant started to crack and bits of ice started to fall. Nya fell to the ground covering her head, horrified how they were going to lose their first battle against Garmadon.
"Oh- what will Kai do? WHAT WILL KAI DO?!!"
Eyes closed and knuckles tight, the ninjas suddenly felt heat forming. Fire started to form circling the area of the most intense part of the battle. The ninjas looked at Lloyd but he was looking just as confused as the others. Enemy soldiers started to disintegrate and die from the sudden explosion of fire.
"W-what's going on?!"
"I think.. we're saved Nya.."
Nya looked at Jay with confusion but suddenly realized that whoever lit these fires was not on garmadons side.
"HAHAHAHAHA~! You guys seemed to be in trouble!" A familiar voice was heard as fire started to spread through out the remaining dozen of the soldiers. The fire may have took out the soldiers but was starting to melt the ice on the giant. A flash of brown and red came down from no where, landing in front of the ninjas. The mysterious figure raised his head and smiled, the ninjas were shocked to see the same person that supposedly died.
"Anyone miss me?"
"..k-Kai is that.. is that you..?"
Tears started to form in Lloyd's eyes as Kai looked at them in confusion. Kai then looked down at the wounded Cole, worry started forming on his face. As time pass by the soldiers were beginning to die and the giant was begun to stir from its ice prison.
"Y-YOU CAN'T BE KAI!!"
Jay exclaimed loudly as Nya looked away guiltily. Kai face then softened and let out a deep sigh. Turning around he pulled out his sword and faced the shaking giant.
"I knew you would say that..seems like you guys have a lot of questions, eh?"
Laughing with triumph he began to walk towards to the giant, pulling out another sword.
"Wait. Hold on! No way you can defeat that- that thing, with just twin blades.."
Lloyd yelled with an anxious expression, not believing Kai can take on such a creature in a fight. As if knowing this, Kai took out a rope from the supply box he swiped earlier and wrapped it around his shoulder.
"Maybe, but you never know till the end.!"
There was a loud noise and the ice had fully melted and crushed. The giant made a loud sound as Kai was calmly walking towards it. The ninjas started shouting but he kept walking as if taking on a little kid, with confidence and determination.
