Sonic walked through the dark, oak forest. His steps were slow and cautious, trying not to draw  too much attention toward himself. His ears flickered in different directions... listening for anything could jump him at any second. His head quickly turned toward the direction of a howling elk in the distance. It had caught him off guard and caused him to step on a dried up branch, causing an abrupt and loud snap beneath his red runner shoes.

"Shit..." He murmured to himself as the snap echoed throughout the unsettling environment. The forest went quiet again, a sudden boom broke the sound barriers, and the sounds of rocket boosters blasted toward Sonic's direction.

Sonic bared his teeth, his arms instinctively moved out before him in an "X" form to block and protect his head and upper body. His legs shifted and stiffened into a defensive position to keep himself steady and balanced, even though he knew it would likely be a futile attempt.

Within five seconds, Something strong and heavy bashed into Sonic's body. Gripping him by the shoulders and slamming him down and across the muddy ground, leaving a long crater of dirt and moss in his path, dust and debre flying and stuffing the late-night air with a pillow of mud and dirt forming behind his messy quills. Sonic groaned and grunted while gritted teeth. He opened his eyes and was met with burning bright Rubellite red eyes and an expression of fury and rage.

Sonic tried pushing the modian off of himself but to no avail. He narrowed his eyes, folsslowed by a snarl from his snout.

"Get off of me, Shadow! I'm not here to fight you! I'm just here to ask for your help."

Shadow only responded by applying more preassure in his grip while unsheeting his claws from beneath his black and white gloves.

"And why would I help a fool like you?"

His low tone, although annoyed and angered, still remained calm and collected. His eyes inspected each and every detail of the stupid hedgehog's blue and peach face. And damn did it look dramatically deformed with his childish expression.

"Because I need your help finding G.U.N... Now let me go before I kick you into a whole new generation, you asshole!"

Shadow's eyes narrowed in suspicion and annoyance. Ignoring his childish threats. The grip on Sonic's shoulders loosened as the older hedgehog stood up and backed a few steps away in a respectful gesture.

"What would a simpleton like you want with an agency far more complex and powerful than you could ever even begin to comprehend? As far as I'm aware... you don't like them...."

Sonic stood up and dusted himself down, burying his gloved paws through his bushy quills. He shook them in an attempt to get most of the mud and dirt out as he gave muttering grumbled and silent complaints about the entire situation situation and the dirt covering his once clean blue coat.

"First, I look for Eggman, then I get bugged by two mechanical tin-cans to find Eggman, Then I suddenly get pounched by the Edge-lord, now this!?"

He used his paws to gesture to himself while silently ranting and raving to himself with raising attitude and anger. His noisy and annoying voice echoed through the dimly lit, Murky forest, ruining the peaceful and silent atmosphere.

Shadow raised a brow in confusion, only able to hear certain words before being spooked with the last loud statement. He quickly relaxed his eyes, boredly waiting for an answer and refusing to repeat himself. He impatiently began tapping a finger over the red marking on one of his arms and let out a small grumble with a flicking ear at the echoing voice.

Sonic sighed and dusted off his paws while turning to the older young adult and calmed himself, and turned all his attention back onto his rival before speaking up.
