Under the night sky (≈)

(In this imagine, Y/n and Jude are both teenagers and best friends, not lovers.....yet ;))

"Don't forget the marshmallows, Jude." I say as I make my way out to my backyard.

"Got them." Jude says, following behind me.

As we sat in our chairs that surrounded the fire pit, we began to make s'mores, "Y/n, why do you always burn your marshmallows?" Jude said as he laughed.

"Because I like it this way. Plus, it adds more flavor" I say as I start eating my s'more.

After we finished eating our s'mores, I got up and dragged Jude with me to lay on the blanket, "Come on, Jude. Let's look at the night sky."

He smiled as he got up, "Fine. Let's look at the night sky." He said, copying me.

As we laid down on the blanket, I was immediately mesmerized by the thousands of stars scattered in the sky, "Wow, the stars are so gorgeous."

Jude didn't reply, I thought nothing of it because he must have been mesmerized as well.

-3rd person p.o.v.-

Y/n was too busy looking at the sky to notice Jude wasn't looking at the stars. Rather, he was looking at his own star, the star that became dear to him many years ago.

"Yea.....gorgeous." He finally replied.

"Jude, look at that star" y/n pointed to the star that was isolated from the rest, "even though it's alone, it's not outshined. I like that." Y/n rambled, Jude didn't mind, he loved hearing her thoughts, it made him feel special.

Jude looked at that star, "Yea, you're right. But look at that star" he pointed to a group of stars, specifically the one that was shining the brightest, "even though that star is in a group, it doesn't dim down its brightness just so it can fit in....that's what I love about it."

Little did y/n know, that star was her in Jude's eyes.

"That was some poetic shit." Y/n said laughing, making Jude smile, "Yea, but I can't help it."

There was a moment of silence, y/n propped herself up on her elbows, admiring the moon.

Jude knew her like the back of his hand. They've known each other their whole lives, thanks to their mothers being best friends since highschool.

He knew how she loved to star gaze, he knew how happy she got whenever she sees a full moon or how happy she got when someone would gift her a romance book. He knew how she could calm him down with just a touch, or how she could make him smile when he doesn't feel like it.

But most importantly, he knew how he wants to be the reason for her happiness, like she is for his.

Jude was hesitant, but decided to go for it, "The moon's beautiful, isn't it?" He looked over at y/n.

Y/n took a moment to process what he said, she couldn't believe it, 'No way' she thought to herself

She looked over at him to see he was already staring at her, making her heart skip a beat, "Always has been." Y/n said with a smile.

Jude was beyond happy to hear her say that, "You know what else is beautiful?" He asked as he scooted closer to her, "You."

Y/n couldn't help but blush, "Oh my God, Jude. You're making me blush" she said as she playfully pushed him a little.

Jude smiles, "I'm just saying."

As they sat there, both of them have thoughts racing through their heads. Both of them thinking what if they made a move? What if they confessed their feelings for one another?

Jude was the first to speak, "Y/n, can I tell you something?"

Y/n looked over at Jude curiously, "Go ahead....."

"Ever since we started being close, you held a special place in my heart. You've been there for me through thick and thin, I don't know where I would be without you" Jude took a deep breath, "I like you, y/n."

She looked at him with eyes full of love, she couldn't believe her crush admitted his feelings towards her, "Jude......" she said breathlessly.

He started second guessing himself because she only said his name, "I'm sorry, can you just forg-"

Y/n cut him off by kissing his lips, catching him off guard as she pulled away, "I like you too, Jude."

The night took a positive turn, as these two shared their stories on when they discovered their true feelings for one another.

But, the moon was a silent witness, watching the two best friends turn into new lovers as the night had slowly came to an end.
