Result
One week had passed since we managed to survive our second quarter, and today is the day that the rankings will be posted.
The administrators typically post the overall results around 5:00 PM, but it's only 3:40 PM now, reason why Gracie told me to spend my time in the library. And I really thought that she had something important to do or read, which is why she was so eager to ask me to stay here in the library, but it turns out that she was just going to sleep! How cool, right? And well, I can't blame her though; it's goddamn freezing here compared to our classroom, which feels like a fucking hell.
“Kinda nervous with what will happen later,” Gracie suddenly stated.
I looked at her and nodded, agreeing with what she had said because I do, too. We were both busy minding our own businesses—she was watching a mukbang video with headphones on, of course, while I was also occupied reading the second book of Harry Potter on my phone, which is "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets." Gracie actually sent me the e-book, maybe because she noticed, when we bumped at each other at the National Bookstore after our second-quarter exam, that I wanted to buy the complete physical set of Harry Potter book series, but I refrained because the author was so problematic!
One of the main characters has the same name as mine. That's actually the reason why I started reading this series; I discovered we share the same name. And my addiction to it continues.
“I see, you really love reading that Harry Potter series, but why didn't you buy a physical copy? It would be nice to have a collection, you know...” Gracie added.
I shrugged. “I want to enjoy reading this one without directly financially supporting the author and e-books offer convenience and portability so...”
J.K. Rowling has actually faced criticisms and controversy because of her statements regarding transgender individuals. And who would want to support someone who is a transphobic?
Minsan talaga nakakainis iyong kung sino pang may magandang mga nilikha, sila pa talaga iyong mga problematic.
Kaya paanong hindi niya alam kung gaano ka problematic ang author nito? I thought she was a fan? I mean, may e-book siya nitong Harry Potter series, so I assumed that she was indeed a fan.
“Oh, that...” sabi niya pa, may hilaw na ngiti at nagkamot sa kaniyang kilay.
“You didn't know?” I asked.
“Of course, I know! George R.R. Martin was hella problematic because—”
I cut her off. “Huh? J.K. Rowling is the author of Harry Potter series.”
After blurting out something embarrassingly wrong, a sheepish smile crept across her face, its warmth contrasting with the flush of embarrassment on her cheeks.
Napailing ako sa kaniya at hindi na siya pinansin pa. Seriously, nagbanggit pa siya ng ibang pangalan. Nandamay pa nga ng iba.
A voice from the intercom interrupted our leisure time.
