06. Percy Eats Lightning. Twice.
◈ ━━━━━━━ ◈
Winter, circa 2007
Camp Half-blood.━━𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐋𝐀𝐆 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐓, and it had only just started.
Percy couldn't tell you why he didn't fight harder against Thalia when she suggested he take defense. Maybe it was because he was afraid that a fight would break out between the two of them. It was bound to happen eventually, what with their godly parents being enemies and such.
It was his fault for being a coward, and he was now stuck on guard duty.
He was standing on top of Zeus' fist, where their team had mounted their flag, keeping watch from the high point. Down below, Beckendorf and the Stoll brothers stood guard, along with Seth and Nico, who were attached at the hip like always.
Percy hadn't seen Seth since the ruckus at the dining pavilion during lunch. He didn't know what Conan wanted with that guy, and he honestly didn't care.
Okay, maybe he did care a little bit, and maybe it had the fact to do with how suspicious Seth Yoon was. He didn't want to make it into a bigger deal than it already was, like what his best friend was doing, especially considering the circumstances with Annabeth's disappearance and Artemis being in trouble and what-not—dear gods, he could never catch a break—but being overly cautious was never a bad thing.
Take a look at what happened with Luke. He wasn't cautious enough and he almost died multiple times because of that jerk he thought was his friend. Yeah, he was twelve, and he wasn't exactly a model for exemplar decision making skills, but he definitely should've known better, especially with how nice the guy had been. No one can be that good looking and that nice at the same time.
Seth was the perfect example of that. He was tall, more pretty than handsome in that way girls usually like but his personality was that of a feral cat on the streets that would scratch and bite if you got anywhere within two feet of its personal space. In conclusion, Seth Yoon was a good looking guy with a shitty attitude and Percy was beginning to realise that he'd gone way off track. What the hell was he even thinking about in the first place?
He shook his head to get his thoughts straight again and only focused on the game.
The plan was to send out decoys into the woods, led by Silena Beauregard who was settling a score after the Hunters insulted her cabin, and distract the Hunters, while the actual raiding party was incharge of capturing the opposing team's flag. It was all Thalia's plan, and Percy was kind of sour that he hadn't come up with it first. It seemed like ever since Thalia's resurrection, she had made it her personal mission to one-up him in every possible way. It was probably the whole Poseidon-Zeus rivalry talking, but whatever.
