Aspen sat alone in her room, staring blankly at the wall in front of her. The weight of her broken promise hung heavy in the air, suffocating her with guilt and regret. She had known from the start that falling for Wolf was a mistake, that it was a forbidden love that could never be fulfilled. But despite her best intentions, she had let her heart lead her astray, and now she was left to deal with the consequences.
She thought of Arks and Jonah, Wolf's wife and children, and her heart ached with the knowledge that she had become the other woman in their lives. She knew that Wolf would never leave his family for her, and that their love was doomed from the start. But still, she couldn't help the feelings of longing that consumed her whenever she thought of him.
Aspen knew that she had to make things right, to own up to her mistakes and face the truth of the situation. She couldn't continue to live in denial, to ignore the pain that she had caused by breaking her promise. And so, with a heavy heart and tears streaming down her face, she made the decision to confront Wolf and end their forbidden love once and for all.
She found him in the garden, his face etched with sorrow as he gazed up at the stars above. She took a deep breath and approached him, her heart pounding in her chest as she prepared to speak the words she had been dreading.
"Wolf," she began, her voice trembling with emotion. "I can't do this anymore. I can't continue to be the other woman in your life, to live a lie that is built on deceit and betrayal. I know that you love your wife and children, and I would never ask you to leave them for me. I have to end this, for all of our sakes."
Wolf looked at her, pain and regret flickering in his eyes. He reached out a hand to touch her face, but she pulled away, knowing that she had to stand firm in her decision.
"I'm sorry, Aspen," he whispered, his voice breaking with emotion. "I never meant for this to happen, for us to fall into this forbidden love. But I know that you're right. We can't continue like this. It's time for us to say goodbye."
And with that, Aspen turned and walked away, leaving behind the shattered pieces of their broken promise and the echoes of a love that could never be. She knew that she would always carry a piece of Wolf in her heart, but she also knew that she had to move on, to let go of the forbidden love that had consumed her and find a way to forgive herself for the mistakes she had made.
