"How romantic of you both." Claire said as she read the letter over Eliza's shoulder.
"Nobody told you to read it." Eliza said, smiling broadly at his letter. Carefully, she folded it and pocketed in her pants.
It was true. Her seventeenth birthday was coming up in two days, but she had no idea how to spend it.
"That reminds me," Claire started. "What do you want to do for your seventeenth?"
Eliza shrugged. "I don't know, really," She said earnestly, thinking.
"No plans?" Claire asked conspicuously.
Eliza narrowed her eyes. "No, why?"
Claire brushed it off. "No reason."
"You're not planning anything, are you?"
Claire laughed. "I'm too lazy to do all of that."
Eliza looked at her but didn't press it.
"Hm, sure."
"So, that escaped prisoner, huh?" They continued their conversation.
***
Two days later, Eliza was woken up rushed. Her parents barged into her room, yelling, 'HAPPY SEVENTEENTH' that it took her a while to actually comprehend the fact that she was seventeen now.
